Should i get Metroid?

Ive never played it.Tell me some details please.

which metroid? the first(NES?, VC?)? Prime? 3?

Assuming your talking about the first on the VC, get super metroid. Much better game. But thats not saying that the first is bad.

^ I downloaded that recently, but I thought the level design was terrible. It's like a labyrinth, I have no idea where I am or where I've been, everything looks the same. And controls were really sluggish. Of course, I'm relly picky about such things. I hope Super Metroid has better controls. If so, it'll be worth picking up.

Metroid is an alright game but has definitely not aged as well as its contemporaries. If you can get past the fact that there's no map and the environments are really repetitive, it's still a fun time, but I can understand the complaints. It simply doesn't quite stand up today like The Legend of Zelda does, so you might want to do some more research before dropping down the money. Even so, it's only five bucks or so on the Virtual Console, so it's not that big an investment.

Fortunately, Super Metroid remedies just about all of those complaints. There's a map that lets you keep track of where you are in the world, there's significantly more detailed and varied graphics, with distinctive locations and varied level design, and the controls are pretty precise, although not quite up there with, say, Super Mario World. It's one of the best games of all time (the best action-adventure ever made, according to some people), so it's well worth the points and play-time.

I agree with Sea here. If you like getting lost, have plenty of fun....although sometimes, it's pretty obvious where to go: just look at the walls carefully. If something looks funny, bomb it or missle it. (Or you can just shoot it, but it won't yeild many results...) Chances are that there will be a missle expansion or, more importantly, a secret entrance.

Metroid Zero mision and Metroid Fusion are really good games, it´s worth playing them. I never played supermetroid... but I hope it´s better than the original Metroid, becuase that one totally lacks shape. Ok, I played it for awhile, but after playing MZM and MF it seems way too primitive.

I agree With MadCucco. Get Metriod Fusion for the GBA. It's fun and challenging.

Nope! I've only played Metriod Fusion and Prime. My dad beat them both.

Then I suggest getting Zero Mission for GBA. It's basically a remake of the first game, with a few changes here and there, but nothing too major.

If your talking VC then go ahead and get the original for 5 bucks. Better than paying 20 or more dollars for a GBA game.

I'd rather pay the extra personally. As Sea said earlier, the original Metroid hasn't really lasted the test of time, it's pretty dated now. Zero Mission is far more of a pleasure to play, more along the lines of Super Metroid, but of course, not surpassing it.
