Re: Skies of Arcadia: Legends
I loved it. It just captured me the way only a Zelda game before has done.
Probably my 2nd favorite game, along with Tales of Symphonia. Skies is very special, and there is nothing quite like exploring the planet in the skies. Its what i think the Wind Waker should have been like, as appose to skidding along some blue flat surface (which is supposed to be water i think)

Re: Skies of Arcadia: Legends
I also have it, but I didn't like it that much.
I found most of the spells to be nearly useless. That nearly drove me crazy. But it's a good game anyway.

Re: Skies of Arcadia: Legends
Its was a freaking awesome game. It was a really good game. I have no idea what was different from the dreamcast one, but it was a great game. It will take you a while to beat it too.

Re: Skies of Arcadia: Legends
I first played this as a Dreamcast demo, loved it despite not been a big fan of RPGs but I couldn't find it in shops at the time so years later I had a Gamecube and saw the game on a shelf in a shop and bought it before someone else did. I wasn't disappointed, loved every minute of it although the random battles could get a bit silly at times until you got that ring thing that reduced them. The ship battles were OK against other ships but against the gigas (bosses) they kinda took the piss as you couldn't speed things up between moves. Overall though it was a great game, I wouldn't mind a sequel of sorts.

Re: Skies of Arcadia: Legends
I've been trying to find this for so long. The Gamecube version is impossible to find in Australia, I'd imagine trying to find the DC version would be even worse. Oh well, I'll just keep checking EB and the Cash Converters down the road, one day I'll have to have luck.

Re: Skies of Arcadia: Legends
Yea it is. I think it took me about 50 some hours or so to beat it. Its really fun, and can be challenging.

Re: Skies of Arcadia: Legends
I like this game very much. The technical aspects are starting to show their age, but it has that kind of atmosphere that it's appealing no matter how old it looks. The magic system is great imo, but there's not that much variety.
I played both Baten Kaitos and ToS before even touching, so the random battles really started to get on my nerves, they took so long to finish. But all in all, it's a great game. There's a lot of sidequests, nice music and the story is quite compelling. If you have the chance, try this one out.

Re: Skies of Arcadia: Legends
It's my favorite RPG. I clocked in about 100 hours, and got the 'Vyse the Legend' swashbuckler ranking. I'd highly recommend the game to anyone.

Re: Skies of Arcadia: Legends
I don't have it but my friend does and we would spend hours playing it. Once we got to the end where your ship can go as high as possible and as as low as possible and through all the types of walls. We spent more hours looking for all the wonders and all the bandits you can find and get rewards for beating to raise your priate rank. Or whatever it was. Some were so hard to find too. I remeber haha. But yea it was a fun game. There was alot of exploring that was needed to be done. Not just in the ship flying around but also on all the islands to find the little bird things or whatever they were i cant remember but yea. That what makes skys so cool is all the exploring.

Re: Skies of Arcadia: Legends
It played everything by the book and brought no new, revolutionary ideas with it, but what it did have was executed perfectly. Skies gets major props from me for taking all of the stale, overused cliches that had been plaguing the JRPG genre at that point and somehow making them lotsa fun again. I thought it was a welcome gift from the past and an overall great game. All of the discoveries and side quests helped. I can't think any other game off hand that felt so rewarding just for exploring the far corners of the world.
Not quite sure if it warrants a sequel, but I certainly wouldn't mind one. Though Sega's shuffled around its internal developers so much after the DC era that I'm not sure if Overworks even exists anymore. =/ |
