Original N64 or melee? I say N64 because It's like cornflakes: the original and best!

Then you are probably the 1% of people in the world that thinks that...sorry. Melee was better in EVERYTHING then its 64 counterpart. More characters, more attacks, more items, it was all better.

Re: SSB

SSB was good for its time, SSBM is AWESOME for its time, it bettered everything, new characters, new items, new stages, and not only quantity but also quality, gameplay was by a lot better than 64, it feels like more smooth, 64 feels like very solid (i don't know if you understad this), very much for the game style,

I honestly LOVED SSBM. It was fun, challenging and entertaining at the same time! I never get tired of playing it. Now if only I can find the darn disk...

SSBM wins. There's nothing SSB has that SSBM hasn't (except for board the platform).

Re: SSB

I just like origanal better. I'm much better in that game. PLus in the origanal game the saber was absolutely unstoppable and probably the best item in the game. In the new one they totally butchered the saber, made it shorter, less powerful, etc.

Then that makes Melee Frosted Flakes. It's more than good!

I'll agree the original is still fun, but...Melee is like, the perfect sequel. N64's feels so slow and clunky now. You notice the dropping framerate. Knowing the short history of the original, I think I can safely say, Melee is what the original was intended to be.

Bumpers? Fighting Polygons? Lack of doppelganger characters? Pokemon that are actually useful? No crappy stages *cough*pokefloats*cough*? A beam sword that's actually good? Don't those count for anything?

Anyway, I for one preferred the slower action, fewer items, better narrator and fewer attacks in SSB64. With slower fighting, you know what you're doing, with less items you don't accidentally pick up a piece of crap like lip's stick instead of the fire flower. those are too confusing. You can't beat the character entrances, and the 3-d "choose your fighter" screen, with a more enthusiastic narrator. And all the smash B attacks suck (well, maybe not Captain Falcon and Kirby), and whenever the control sick is barely pointing left or right you always do them! This has caused me to fall to my death many times.

They also downgraded Fox's gun (just sayin')

There are more good stages than there were on SSB64, there are 25.

Oh so true, but I did miss 64's Mushroom Kingdom. Why the levels aren't that interactive in Melee is a mystery. I also have to admit, I would like them to bring back individual entrances, but that's just the bells and whistles talking here.

Re: SSB

I loved 64's Mushroom Kingdom. It was my favorite stage.

And well, the original is the only one I've played. I've wanted to play Melee for ages, but..*sigh*

Re: SSB

While I do think that Mushroom Kingdom 64 is the best stage in the series up to this point, that's really all the original has in it's favor as far as I'm concerned. Oh, and the character-specific entrances were quite cool too, now that I think about it.

Other than that, Melee is everything SSB was and more. The faster gameplay and increased item count are boons in my eyes; with four players, the game gets far more chaotic than it ever did in the first one. It's just more fun to me.

Re: SSB

Hands down I'd pick Melee.

-better graphics
-better game play
-more characters
-more modes
-etc. etc.

The N64 version was great, but it seemed to short. So that's why I picked Melee.
