M&Ms: Break em'!

Did anybody play this DS game? I bought it awhile ago, but never got around to playing it until yesterday.

Call me crazy, but I actually enjoy this game! (not because I love M&Ms, okay? ) It's fun, strategic, and takes skill. I got up to the third area in Donut Island (was it called that?) and I lost, but the game is pretty tough...the skull things are annoying, especially. But that was only my first try at the game. I did pretty good and hopefully I won't fail next time.

Re: M&Ms: Break em'!

We actually have it in the small electronics section at my work. Might have to get it (with my discount, of course).

Neato. And I did make a mistake. The island I was on is Egg Island.

Silly me. XD

Re: M&Ms: Break em'!

A hideous clone of the far superior Gem Smashers is all it really is.

Just stick with Gem Smashers. It doesn't reek of commercial tie-ins, and is just a LOT more polished than this pile.

Not much of a score really....

Re: M&Ms: Break em'!

This game isn't worth it. The name alone is an indication to that.

I have a suggestion play something worth owning next time.

Re: M&Ms: Break em'!

Hey, I can play what I want. Don't hate me just because you hate all the games I like. I liked this game and I think it was a good buy. I don't care about internet ratings, only what I think of the game.

Besides, it's not my fault stores here don't sell super awesome games. The only super awesome one they had was TP for Wii.

Re: M&Ms: Break em'!

I don't see anyone hating you here, Kynella. You're starting off too defensive when somebody says something you don't like, and when people tell you a game isn't good, there's likely a good reason as to why they might say that. Another thing, it's tremendously rude to dismiss people's comments like you did with Capn there. He suggested something else, in quite an amiable way also, and it could be something you might like even more if you just took a moment to look it up on google and found a game review, or look it up on youtube to see what you can find and what it might be like there. Dismissing something before you even know anything about it is just ignorant and silly.

Still, game reviews aren't everything as everybody as their own different tastes as to a good game, but they are often a good indiction as to how good a game actually is. I admit I've never actually heard of this game, but I'll check it out shortly when I can and just see what it's like. Video Game stores generally have at least some selection of games, and again, there's always eBay and other online markets as to be able to acquire something special. It's not too difficult, and worth it if you put the effort in to find what you want.

Re: M&Ms: Break em'!

Pelagias in your thread "What is the worst game you've played" I think I want to change my vote to this this game.

Kynella you didn't give us any good insight on why you liked the game. You basically just summed up "I like it" "and for the reasons that I simply like it".

Re: M&Ms: Break em'!

No. I didn't simply say "I like this game." I stated why I liked it. I liked it because it was challenging, and took a lot of skill. I'm still not past Egg Island because I'm all out of lives. I like the concept of the game, the gems reminded me of the computer game Bejeweled Deluxe. And I love that game.

I know the stores here don't have really cool games, but I try to enjoy what's available. Seriously, all this store has is one little wall of games, all DS, GBA, Wii, Xbox and Xbox360, GC, and PS2. The games they have there are mostly older ones that were released around the time of TP and even before that. There's no Super Paper Mario or Halo or anything like that. I wish they would have super awesome games, but they don't...

Though, I am going to the US for the summer, so I'll see what I can dig up there.

Game reviews can can also be pretty random/biased/useless, sure (IGN/GameSpy reviews usually read like they've been sold to the highest bidder; EG ones have far more valuable scoring and entertaining reviews but occasionally lack game-related substance). But at least when out to find a good game, some 3.5/10 reviews should be indication enough that you don't have to deal with the game up close. Now knowing you more than I should I have to be afraid that you're out to find something terrible here (or have too much time to find games).

In general (no, I am not trying to flame Kynella here), I can't stand being told that "I don't care what reviews say", mostly when trying to give somebody helpful suggestions of games to play or music to listen to. "Everybody has an opinion!" is a great defense, too.
But then she to an extent did indeed say why she liked Marble Madness 2000 or whatever this thread is about.

Where are you again precisely that they have such a horrid choice of things to buy?

If I may make a suggestion here...

Never ever settle for sub-par because "nothing else is available." That is exactly the kind of attitude that ensures that developers can make a profit while not having to put in serious amounts of effort into their product. The way you send signals to tell developers to improve is by not buying bad product. Even if you have to wait through dry periods, there's tens of thousands of games from days long past that you may have missed that you can run on an emulator. (Or Virtual Console, but that just sucks, since most emus have internet play functions and built-in Game Genie/Shark/Action Replay emulators) The point I'm getting at is you need to hold yourself up to higher standards, rather than just "settling" with "whatever is there."

Plus, you know, there's eBay. Most sellers will ship worldwide.

Re: M&Ms: Break em'!

Hey, I'm just tired of people always making nasty comments in the threads I make just because I make it about a game they don't like. I don't mind if they don't like the game, but they're going too far if they're being really harsh about it.

I'm sorry if I was a bit too defending.

Capn: I don't use Ebay. I use Amazon.com. But my parents are too lazy to order the games for me, even though I've asked several times. So I have no choice but to settle for what they have in stores here. I would take your advice, but I just can't...

*gives Gerudo cookies* Enjoy. :3
