Starwars on the wii?

Does anybody know if there will be a starwars on the wii where the remote is your lightsaber or something? That would be pretty cool... Like an action game...

I'm not sure. But I do know. If they did make one. The gameplay would consist of the wiimote being the lightsaber. With sub par graphics and story, and no other gameplay elements.

I don't know for sure if they're going to make a Star Wars game for the Wii, but if they did it would be pretty cool. Using the Wiimote as the Lightsaber would be cool. (Lets hope that it's not like TP on the Wii where you moved the Wiimote somewhere and Link does the complete opposite of the way you slashed.)

I feel like ranting about the fact that the Force Unleashed isn't coming out for PC or Wii and that Lucasarts gives the worst support on there games.

But instead I will just say that they have to do it. Come on, the system screams Use the remote as a lightsaber. I can almost hear Obi Wan telling me to take it and fight dark jedi.

It would be cool f they made a longer version of the starwars light saber battle... You know the one where the camera is the training droid, half the lightsaber for the game.

Re: Starwars on the wii?

Simple fact: Force Unleashed can't be done on the Wii. The technology they're using for it just can't be ported to the Wii.

Besides, that game will be more about harnessing the Force than using a lightsaber, although lightsaber combat will be in the game.

Listen guys, automatically assuming that the Wii's control interface would make a great lightsaber based Star Wars game is the wrong train of thought. Do we want a sub-standard remote swinging game just like Star Wars Arcade?

LucasArts would have to be willing to add a lot more substance than that. Red Steel is a good starting point, though not perfect it's a way to demonstrate that other gameplay elements could be added. Think along the lines of a new Jedi Knight game, or even (at a stretch) Shadows of the Empire.

I was actually thinking about something like Jedi Knight. About the Force Unleashed, getting technical here, does the Wii lack the processing power for DMM and the Euphoria engine? Because the graphics can be downscaled.
So I have two options, save for a 360 or wait for a pc release that will undoubtly come if the game is a success.

Re: Starwars on the wii?

Although it's not confirmed, I doubt the Wii can process the exact requirements of the DMM technology. Downscaled graphics will always be a factor games are released multi-platform.

What LA seem to confirm is that Force Unleashed will be available on PS2 and both the PSP and DS.

However, if we were to take into account the game of Spider-Man 3, the PS2 version will differ greatly from the 360 and PS3 version. It may be that LA have omitted the Wii to develop a stand alone title.

See that bothers me, the Wii is superior to the PS2, so why can't they release the PS2 version on the Wii? If they are making a separate title for the Wii than all is forgiven.

Re: Starwars on the wii?

LucasArts probably didn't think the Wii would be successful, so they likely didn't even develop anything for it. That's why Force Unleashed will be coming out on the other systems, but not on Wii, at least not yet.

Re: Starwars on the wii?

i doubt we'll get a Star Wars game for the Wii very soon, im sure we will get one, but not very soon, but don't be too hyped, because the first Star Wars on Wii will be most surely a Rogue Squadron 4, not a Lightsaber using game.

Re: Starwars on the wii?

I'd say it's inevitable. LucasArts can't ignore the sales number of Wii, nor the fact that they could make millions of dollars from a good game. Seriously, who wouldn't buy it?

Re: Starwars on the wii?

I remember when the Wii was first shown to the public, there was talk about a lightsaber game actually in development. Probably just rumors though.
