Has anyone customized their game systems?

I have recently been inspired to give my NES a custom paint job.
After seeing a few cool console mods online (most importantly the zelda wii and ds), I decided that my NES could do with a makeover.

The only thing that I have ever done like this before was make my own decal for my GBA SP. I used an exacto knife to cut out a spiderweb with a hanging spider and stuck it on my gameboy. It looked pretty sweet, but my friend borrowed it and still has it, so I cant take a pic of it.

Anyways, I was planning on going for a zelda themed NES, but I may change my mind.
I saw a cool gold NES that I like, but Im not sure if I would want to do that.

Has anyone here customized anything before? Any tips? Any recommendations (color/design)? Anyone just want to show off their stuff?

That NES looked sweet, too bad mines a top loader.

I haven't given any of my consoles a paint job, or customize it by cuting a spider web on it but I have put a skin on some things like my DS.

I have blue LEDs in it, but I havn't gotten around to wiring them up yet.

Oh, and I disabled that pesky 10NES lockout chip in it, too.

Thats pretty cool man!
Im not sure how to add LED lights, but I may do that too eventually.

Im still stuck on what color to paint my NES and if I want to put a symbol or something on it.

Does it count if you had a 20 year anniversary sticker on your DS?

Re: Has anyone customized their game systems?

The only remotely mod-ish thing I did was get a skin for my DS with a design on it.

It's the DHARMA Initiative logo from LOST. It looked cool at first but now I'm not really fond of it.

I think I'm going to get a new one.

But other than that, nothing. I guess that doesn't really count. I'd be too scared of messing my consoles up. I'm clumsy.

That Dharma DS is awesome...

I would also be scared to modify my consoles... thats why Im doing it on an NES.
I have 2 of them anyways.

I peel off the icky plastic film on the back of my Gameboys off to reveal the nice, smooth plaque below with all Nintendo's copyright details on.

...That's it. People who modify their consoles have my great respect, but I don't see any real point in it.

Maybe not as funny as pro wrestling, but a lot more realistic.

Actually, yes I have. My DS looks like it is well used. And it's missing its stylus.

There really is no point, other than to make it look cool, personalize it and the bragging rights involved with it.

Re: Has anyone customized their game systems?

1. That Pearl White N64 is nerdgasmic!

2. It may not be necessary to customize a console, but the process is fun, you learn something new, and you have something to show for it.

3. Could somebody please give me some recommendations for colors or symbols or something to put on my NES?

That N64 is awesome man, good luck.

I don't do much modding because I never really gave it much thought but you havbe sparked my interest in it now, I think I was too lazy before. Hmm, what to do.

Re: Has anyone customized their game systems?

all of those look really awesome! especiallly the dharma ds. On my old blue gba i would doodle random things with a magic marker on it and then rub it off and doodle something else. no pics, its been lost forever.

I suggest you color your nes either gold or lime green! lime green with green LED's would look soooooo nasty! (i mean that in a good way, lol) you could call it the booger! lol. you should probly paint your controllers too. its really easy to take the controllers apart too.

what is that? Ive heard about replacing the pins in the nes, but what is a 10nes lockout chip?

About the NES: I think see-through casing all over would be interesting but it would be hard I guess.

I've seen that exact N64 mod before. It is pretty sweet. I plan on doing something similar to my own N64.

Thats how I would customize my NES if I had a side-loader.
