Re: Perfect 10 Game Rating

Obviously it's a matter of opinion, you shouldn't take game ratings too seriously...

To me it's probably just Pokemon Silver and possibly Ocarina of Time that get the big 10. I can't find any flaws in them, they please me perfectly.

Plus, for their time, they were pretty damn well made, atleast by my standards.

Resident Evil 4 is also very well made, though not a 10 in my eyes... But not too far away from it.

Hmm, if desperate I'd see what everyone are rating a game, so I can get a good idea of what it's like. But I think perfection - a 10 - is very hard to achieve and shouldn't be tossed out here and there.

Pretty much the list I have above is what people keep saying.

Wait... Didn't some NES/SNES games get 10s? o_o I don't really remember.

Depends on the publication or website.

The internet gaming community didn't really get into full force until fairly recently, the first zelda fansite was founded in '94 if I'm correct, and even then it wasn't amazingly popular, the community was very small. Because of this, if you look in the archives of most gaming websites, the reviews start at the Nintendo 64 games, they have profiles of older games, but they weren't reviewed because the site didn't exist when the game came out. Only a few gaming websites actually go back and review SNES games. The best place to find reviews of older games are on sites that are actually devoted to rating only older games, but most major review sites don't go back that far.

Ohh, I never realized that. I just always thought game reviews were always around. I wonder what it would be like if they never started game reviews...?

Though that ignores gaming magazines. I know for a fact EGM goes clear back to the 8-bit days, but I'm pretty sure they didn't hand out their first full set of 10's (some games had 10's before, but not by all 4 editors) until Metal Gear Solid came out for the PS1.

Re: Perfect 10 Game Rating

You guys should know, games like Metroid Prime and TP got perfect 10 from many sites, like 1UP/EGM(all 3 reviewers), GameInformer, Gamespy, etc. In fact, there are many games out there that get perfect 10s

Re: Perfect 10 Game Rating

No game actually deserves a 10/10 though.

Everything has flaws.

Well, I've never played it. So I wouldn't really know.

No games that I've ever played deserve a 10.

RESPECT THE OPINION.

Still, giving TP a 10, or any game for that matter, seems a little farfetched. Actually, rating games on a numerical scale in general seems a little ridiculous to me, but whatever.

But I'll mention it again, the original Metal Gear recieved a 10 from IGN, and from quite a few other critics as well
