PS3 rip of Wii nunchuck
I saw today in the paper that PS3 is making a keyboard attachment and a sort of flat handheld/set down joystick which it said 'is like the Wii's nunchuck'. It pretty much looked like a rip off of what Wii's idea was. I'll try to find pics and the article.
Edit: Found something like it but I could have sworn I saw a nunchuck like object in the paper today. PlayStation 3 to support keyboard and mouse for gameplay - PS3focus.com

Re: PS3 rip of Wii nunchuck
Yeah, something like this was bound to happen. Nintendo should have just made the Wii as powerful as the 360, then it would have been all good.

People tend to have preconceived ideas that Nintendo is a 'kiddy' console with nothing truely exhilarating going for it. Bear in mind the N64 was the most powerful console of its time, and that the Gamecube was more powerful than the PS2. |

Anyways, that news link doesn't make any mention of the Wii, and I fail to see the comparison. Also, newspapers are a horrible place to get gaming information from, as newspaper editors rarely have a decent comprehension of the gaming world and confuse terms a lot. Or the electronic world, for that matter. Brainless newspaper editors are who we can blame for replacing the word "downloadable audio" with "podcasting." |

I hate Nintendo. They always take Microsoft and Sony's ideas.
---- Honestly, Nintendo is not the only one that comes up with "original" ideas. Nintendo is not God. Nintendo is innovative in Wii's motion sensoring design, but game-wise, honestly, any company can use the same ideas over and over. In the end, it's marketing realm. It's perfectly fine to take one idea of a company and redesign it into another different idea. It's how people invent new products, people.

Re: PS3 rip of Wii nunchuck
OH NOES SONY IS RIPPING THE PC!
Who cares who rips what, we're not missing or losing out on anything. Its normally better for us, the gamers in the long run. And using a keyboard and mouse would seem really weird on a console. Looks like Sony is really trying to attract all hardcore gamers.

What I'm saying is, if the PS3 can mimic the Wii's motion-controls in some way or another, whether or not it's through that motion sensing button or that new thing which they are making, the Wii has nothing left and looks the worst out of the three new consoles. And the people that have preconceived ideas like you said, don't. Right now with the Wii, everything that is going for them is kiddy. Mii's, Channels, everything. There is not one game on the Wii right now that is worth buying except The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and maybe WW:SM (as a party game). And they are both Nintendo-made titles. I don't think there is even one good title for the Wii right now that isn't Nintendo-made. And there probably won't be a good title for a while; unless the uncommon Tales of (x) game comes along. The one good game on the Wii right now is what? A PORT. What do Wii owners get? We get crappy tamagotchi games and ****ty PS2 ports. Then people will say, what about Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles and FF:CC: The Crystal Bearers? We are getting that aren't we? Well those are crap games that just make the extra few bucks for the companies making them. But XBOX 360 and PS3 will get the Resident Evil 5 and FFXIII games. Also, sweet little marketing move Nintendo. You make $100 on every one of your ****ty consoles. I never wanted Wii Sports in the first place. "Includes Wii Sports" - you didn't even give me an option? I can say this: I hope you like your money you shifty cu*ts.

Re: PS3 rip of Wii nunchuck
^ That's your opinion and your welcome to it. I myself am very content with my Wii and purchases.
Sounds to me like it's a Keyboard and a mouse. That sounds so much like a nunchuck. |

Re: PS3 rip of Wii nunchuck
Ganon: What you are experiencing right now is the post-release game drought. Every console in history has had one: a period after the release where nothing good is coming out, and consumers have only the launch titles, which mostly suck, to tide them over.
The 360 had a drought where the only good game was Oblivion, really. Now look at it: it's an amazing piece of hardware with an equally amazing selection. The PS2 had a terrible drought, and we didn't really see any good titles for months. Now look at it: it has one of the greatest game libraries in history. The Gamecube released with Luigi's Mansion of all things, and aside from Rogue Squadron 2 it didn't have a good game for several months, when Super Smash Bros. Melee came out. Even the Gameboy Advance had a weak launch. The Wii is going through the same thing. It has Twilight Princess and not much else as far as worthwhile games go... but that is changing, as games like Super Paper Mario are beginning to come out. We are also going to see more worthwhile 3rd party titles announced in the near future, count on it. They were unsure of whether the Wii would be a success and so didn't spend resources developing much for it, but now that it's had such a successful launch period 3rd parties are beginning to jump onthe bandwagon. Both EA and Sega are throwing their weight onto the Wii. We're beginning to see the result of this with the announcement of NiGHTS. So cool down on the Wii hating. It's just going through the same growing pains that all consoles have. It's also possible that once the PS3 gets a bit older it will get out of the drought it's in as well. All the people proclaiming Sony dead? I think they're opening their mouths a bit to early. EDIT: Quote:
The PS3 is not. It has a motion sensing controller, but it is not as flexible as the Wii's, and it was tacked on at the last moment with no real support. It hasn't been used as anything other than a gimmick. The release of some sort of peripheral will not change that - peripherals are not something that many game companies will build games around, because only a small fraction of a console's audience owns them, and it's not worth the risk. No, the PS3 cannot and will not compete with the Wii in the motion sensing department.

Again, there is no doubt that it was the most powerful, but not much could be done to take advantage of it. It was like having a Mustang that you could only drive on 25mph roads. |
