What two character combination would be best?

I was just wondering what two video game characters would make the best game if they were put together. By this I mean two main characters AND their villains combined in one game. Just wondering what all possibilities there may be for a great game.

I haven't put much thought into it yet despite it being my own idea but I think Link would definately be one of them and maybe the prince from Prince of Persia. I would love to see those two games, heroes, and villains put together. Ganondorf and the Visear (or however you spell it) would make a great match.

Link and Samus vs. Dark Samus and Dark link

Evil twin showdown

Definitely Mario and Banjo-Kazooie against the combined scheming abilities of Gruntilda the Witch and Bowser the King of Koopas. They're both from similar colorful worlds and they could collect star shaped puzzle pieces and still be in their element. Gruntilda can act as a sort of 'Kammy Koopa" to Bowser but more powerful and with equal status to Bowser.

Link and Cloud would make a good team... but I am so against that it's actually somewhat funny.

I'd have to say Link+Mario=pure pwnage.

Bowser+Ganondorf=...Not so sure about that...
Pirana Plants and Forest Temple boss from TWW or TP would be interesting...

A Papeer Mario/Zelda game would be great.

I think it would be cool to just have a game where some super evil power is threatening the entire Nintendo Universe and all of the big Nintendo heroes would have to stop it. The villains would either join him or try to overthrow him themselves to gain power but either way they would get in the heroes way and would have to be dealt with.
It would have levels in Hyrule, Mushroom Kingdom, and in areas that home other heroes, and each area would feature the gameplay of that particular franchise.
You could play through the game as any Nintendo Hero, each having their own sets of levels but ultimately having the same story. After beating it with all of them you would engage the great evil in a final showdown using all of the characters.
I guess it would be kind of like Sonic Adventure in that you play through the game with different characters using different gameplay, but it would be much more massive and diverse.

I realize only one of these characters has his own game, but it would be cool to see anyways. Shadow the Hedgehog and Meta Knight. Sweet!

Link /Cloud they look similiar(blond hair and blue eyes), and both their 3d games came out not too far from each other.

Samus Aran and Edward Elric. Both blonde. Both with arm attachments. Both awesome.

I'd just like to see Adventure mode in SSBB be more fleshed out than the last one, and have a story behind it. (such as the entire universe being threatened by the Master Hand)

I've decided to change my answer lol.

Instead of having two heroes and two villain merging into one game I would rather all the villains and heroes from a series come together in one game. The game wouldn't be overly awkward with two different heroes from different universes and the series would still be able to keep its style.

Let's say for example the Mario series:

Heroes: Mario, Luigi and Peach
Villains: Bowser, Lord Grodus and Cackletta

Or perhaps the Star Fox series:

Heroes: Fox, Slippy, Falco and Peppy
Villains: Andross, General Scales, Aparoid Queen and the Angler Emperor.

Link and Sonic maybe. Link for obvious reasons and then Sonic for the speed of course. The combined villans would be interesting too. Ganondorf & Dr.Robotnik...nice.
