GTA 4

Im surprised there isn't already a thread about this. Rocktar released the GTA4 trailer the other day. Click here to see the trailer

Where will this one be? What do you think the plot will be? Will you buy this game? Like the graphics? Discuss anything about this soon to be great{hopefully} game.

hmm not sure i thought there was only 3 major centres that GTA is set in, one resembling New York, one resembling Miami, and one resembling Los Angeles (and other west coast cities). what other major centre is there? a midwest city, like Chicago or Indianapolis?

or would it be the first International GTA? i.e its not in the USA, or based on an american city.

I saw the statue of Liberty. So yeah there you go. It's in new york.

The visuals look absolutely awesome this time around. If they just keep the gameplay the same and the only thing improved is the story and graphics, that'd be enough for me to go out and buy it.

The only problem I have right now is with the main character. I'm not too fond of this one either. I still think the best protagonist was the guy from GTA 3. GTA Vice City had a nice one too. But GTA San Andreas had to much of a stereotype, and I'm afraid GTA 4's protagonist might be a bit of a stereotype as well.

wasnt GTA III in New York or rather Liberty City which is based on New York.

it had lots of parallels to things like the Sopranos, GoodFellas and the Godfather.

Remember Grand Theft Auto London? That wasn't set in America. But that was the only one...

Liberty Ferry Bay? Liberteen? It's quite obvious it takes place in Liberty City.

San Andreas was dumb. I know the game underneath was still essentially the same thing that makes GTA games good, but I couldn't bring myself to play a game where the protagonist is horrible African American stereotype. Also, I like my GTA games based on a mob, thank you. Not yo yo gangsta homey lol.

So yeah, III and VC were Italian mafioso and IV looks to be about the Russsian mafia. I like that.

The main character is an African-American! This game sucks!
Open your eyes! All gameplay aspects have been improved, it's bigger and better.
The game isn't even that based around "yo yo gangsta homey lol", it only starts out in the ghetto, you spend most of your time in the Chinese Triad.

I wouldn't call myself a massive fan of the series, but IV looks quite good to me. If it's more of the same then it should be a blast and if they happen to improve the formula it could be something really special. It's definitly one to watch.

It is amazing that the trailer has generated a lot rascism, just like when San Andreas was unveiled.

Things like: "I don´t like this character" or "I can´t ge attached to this character" were, to me, just codes for: "I am rascist and I don´t like black people".

Now, people are pissed because it is a russian this time around. Personally, I think he looks badass! Looking forward to this game!

i know its based in New york, but i wonder if there be be any influences from Boondock Saints. that was partially about Russian mobsters.

would be cool to have a mission that was reminescent of part of that movie.

Does horrible and repetitive apply to the entire series? Because San Andreas doesn't do anything purely gameplay mechanicaly worse than the others. It hasn't done very much at all besides implementing more stuff.
I can understand if you say that you were tired of the concept by the time you played San Andreas, but not otherwise because it's just refined everything the previous games were about.
