Kirby

When I was younger, in the SNES days, I used to love Kirby. The idea was great- absorbing enemies' abilities and using them as weapons. Kirby's Dreamland Three was a great game, but Kirby's Superstar had me completely hooked- with so much potential and so many differnet possibilites with the abilities, I couldn't stop playing.

The N64 game was a bit of a let down, but not too bad. And lately, I think Kirby's pretty underappreciated. Kirby's Air Ride was okay, but not that good. And it seems that HAL is making any future Kirby game 2D, which is completely stupid.

Sure, Kirby is a more kiddy franchise than others. But I think it needs more time in the spotlight. Does anyone agree?

I do, the only kirby games I've played are from the N64 till now.

May I ask a question?

Why do the selections on the poll say "I used to..."? Why not "I like Kirby" or something similar?

Just asking. I love Kirby<3. Personally, I like Kirby games to be 2D/handheld games. I think it's better, although it would be nice if they made the games longer. Just an opinion.=/

Just to create a pattern. The selection that says "I used to, and I still do" is pretty much the same thing as "I like Kirby".

And while 2D Kirby games are great, don't you agree it would be a great idea to explore new ideas? Zelda and Mario went from 2D to 3D fantastically, as well as other franchises. Hell, Metroid went from 2D to FPS- a big leap, but a great one. Don't tell me it wouldn't be fun to have a Super Mario 64-esque Kirby Game- or maybe even an Ocarina of Time-esque Kirby game.

Maybe that should be the poll... Are Kirby games fine as 2D, or would a 3D game be better?

True but we gotta think how good a job the producers of the game would do. For example, Pokemon games are better left 2D because not very many people like 3D Pokemon games. It's just somethings are better as is. Now that I think off it, I wonder if they'll release a Kirby game for the Wii. That would be wonderful...well, depending on the quality of the game.

I've never really played any kirby games, but I like the idea and Metaknight is pretty dang sweet.

Pokemon is better kept 2D, but it's not really an action game in the way Kirby is. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Pokemon is more RPG than action, and Kirby is just action. There's really only so much you can do with 2D games.

I liked the older games. Kirby's Adventure for the NES is one of the best games for the system, and the 3 Dreamland games were pretty sweet as well.

The newer games just... seem to lack the spirit of the older ones.

*puts down original Zelda and Mario* yes... only so much. granted 3D opens up worlds more, but 2D can be really impressive.

I get your point but Kirby was originally 2D so we might as well keep it in it's original state. Just another opinion.

I voted "used to but ther newer games arent as good" because it's closest to what I think. I played some early kirby gameboy game (forgot the name) and kirby and the crystal shards (N64) and that was it.

It's not so much I don't like the games as much as I just grew out of them. Not to offend any other fans of the series but I just find the whole theme of it more younger kid type.

yes! it is a teensy kiddy but who really cares? and as taledin said metaknight rules!

but kirby tilt & tumble was the worst pile o'crap in the series!

All right, but Zelda and Mario games were originally 2D. When they transitioned to 3D on the N64 (I'm not counting SMRPG) they were even better than before. I don't see any reason why Kirby hasn't advanced in the same way.

Another thing- I'm sure many people are like cupac82 and have grown out of Kirby games. Do you think it's because of the kiddy style that Kirby games are in that they haven't made 3D games? Zelda did get a little more adult and serious in OOT, and now TP is rated T. Mario didn't, however. It'd be very possible to make a 3D Kirby game while keeping the kiddy style.

I like Kiby. Nightmare in Dreamland is splendid. I want a 3d adventure now. That would be teh best!

The only Kirby game I've ever played was one of the Dreamland ones (I think the first one).

It was actually pretty good fun. Although, none of the games have really appealed to me since then.

I find it pretty ironic when Ninetndo fans (especially Mario fans) call a game kiddy.
