Re: Square Enix Party 2007 Line-Up Announced

I'm sure there will be one or two small announcements too. Though I would think they would be hyping it at this point if it was anything significant.

But bring on the XIII!! I'm thinking we'll finally see some meaty XIII gameplay, as well as another pointless Versus XIII movie. Agito will surely get some love, though probably won't be covered all too much by reporters for us, due to the lack of interest in the cell phone market.

But second on my hyp-o-meter is Crisis Core, which is pretty much the only Final Fantasy game in the VII compilation that I want to play. It'll probably get some heavy play time.

And finally, I must say that Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete would be pretty friggin' sexy, especially on Blu-Ray. Too bad I really have no intention of watching that movie again. But can you say most popular pirated HD movie on the net?

What a pathetic list. Chock full of spinoffs and not a single new IP in sight. Heck, only a couple quality games in sight. Every single game on that list is part of an already seriously overmilked franchise.

Square Enix loses more of my respect every year.

All I want from Square is Fullmetal Alchemist 3: Kami o Tsugu Shoujo and Dream Carnival. They really need to bring those stateside.

Yeah...You don't exactly see many Vagrant Stories, Chrono games, or Xenogears these days anymore, do you? I really don't know where Square-Enix is getting it's talent anymore. So much of their fantastic staff has left, with only a small part of each team retained. I really don't know how Square-Enix could expect to be able to do it, because sadly, they haven't lately. All we've seen is outsourced ports and side games, all sub-par outside of Dragon Quest VIII. Final Fantasy X was good. X-2 was mediocre. XII was alright as well. Kingdom Hearts wasn't very great, but was the first game in the series, so people were forgiving for the parts of it that were absolutely terrible. But then we get Kingdom Hearts II which ends up being worse all around, only making up for it in a little bit of polish. If I was S-E, I would be trying to merge with Level-5 into Square-Enix, just to have the extra bit of staff to move around. That or Square-Enix has better start recruiting some promising young developers sometime soon, because before we know it, Nomura might leave and Square-Enix will be truly screwed outside of the outsourced Dragon Quests.

...But to jump back on the Final Fantasy XIII hype train:

It's an online translation from Jeux-France but what it says is pretty clear. A new game could be announced at this years party which Square-Enix has told us will contain a lot of surprises for us. It could be another title in the Fabula Nova Crystallis compilation, a completly new FF game or yet another spinoff but it looks like we'll just have to wait until May to find out.
I'm thinking Haeresis or a new MMO. Or they could be one in the same.

Aye, you have a point there. As I was reading the list I noticed that so many of them were either:

A.) FFXIII spin offs.
B.) FFXII spin offs
C.) FFVII spin offs.

However, what is this one: Final Fantasy, PlayStation Portable, April 19th, trailer only

It's unnumbered. Certainly they wouldn't rerelease FF1 on the PSP, would they?

Anyway, I'm highly interested in Chronicles for the DS and Chronicles for the Wii(if anything is mentioned). But that's about it.

Yes. It is the original. This time however, the graphics have been completely redone, though still 2D.

When will they make Kingdom Hearts 3? Enough with the FF soap opera already!

Re: Square Enix Party 2007 Line-Up Announced

Well, Shane from 1up has revealed some new details on what we should expect from the Square-Enix Party. Supposedly, we're to see a lot of new IPs (finally), a bunch of new Final Fantasy games, and that rumored Kingdom Hearts sequel/spin-off combo, for "a system you would not expect." Hmm...What? N-gage? Obviously the first guess I would make is that it's for the 360. Should be interesting next weekend.

Actually, my first thought on the "a system you would not expect" would be the Wii, but who knows?

Well, considering that Square already did one Kingdom Hearts spin-off game on a Nintendo system, and they've been doing a bunch of FF/DQ spin-offs for the Wii already, that wouldn't be a surprise if the spin-off was coming to the Wii.

Of course, Mr. Reporter there was probably blowing hot air, like they all do. But, if he's telling the truth, then the 360 would be my bet.

People can have different opinions. That's mine. Your's is different. That's alright by me. What isn't necessary however, is insulting me in the process of stating your own.

Actually, you got me. You're entitled to your own opinion, and so am I. My deepest apologies for needlessly insulting you.

But, see.... facts are different.
