Why does Bowser kidnap peach?

Time and tiem again, Bowser has kidnaped peach, drug her off to some castle of his, and waited for mario to waltz in, beat up the king of koopas, and waltz right out with the princess.

One question remains in my mind. WHY???

What would be the point? I doubt he's actually doing her harm.

There are some questions answered in some of the Mario rpg games. Like in "Mario RPG: the legend of the seven stars", bowser is trying to stop this weird, totempole faced creature from marrying peach. But, he can't even get through the door. He is crying, because he was kicked out of his own castle by these beings from the stars, and he laments thusly:

"I miss the good old days! Peach screaming for help, mario rushing in to save her..."

Then, he notices mario eavesdropping, and get's all rough and tough again. The ol' softy.

Also, in "Paper mario: The Thousand Year Door", Bowser interupts a conversation between two koopa troopas about how one of them saw Bowser looking fondly at a picture of peach, love reflecting in his eyes. The koopa doesn't notice bowser is right behind him, and nearly jumps out of his shell when he does.

Comments? Does Bowser secretly have a crush on Peach?

YEs he does if you actually play Paper Mario 2: The Thousand year door. You see him talking to a poster, but actually having a crush on her.

I don't remeber what he said. My brother goes on my file for many of my games because he's too lazy to copy. I haven't seen a lot of things in many of my legend of zelda games because of this.

That would be some awkward love...

But I do believe that has become the reason why he does it...

Bowser has a crush on Peach. That seems to be what Ninty is leaning towards anyway, however wrong that might be (Who really IS Bowser Jr.'s mother?).

In Paper Mario, the first one you go as Peach into Bowser's room and read his diary. It does say he likes her in there and Peach and Twink freak out.

lol there a few reasons/theories

1) Bowser and Mario are long-time rivals and so the king of koopas takes away the thing that matters most to Mario in hopes of him coming to save her. It is then that Bowser hopes to defeat his adversary in a fight.
2) Bowser does likes/loves princess Peach. This is seen in how he talks about the poster in PM2 tTYD and when his guards are talking about him and Peach.
3) Bowser hopes to take over the mushroom kingdom...and what better way to do so then by removing its current, much-loved monarch.

Edit: (demon_link) 4) What else is there to do? The only real things to do are: get kidnapped, kidnap people, and save the kidnapped people. lol

I never thought about what sort of power would be gained by kidnapping peach...
silly me!

Of course bowser wouldn't want to just be cooped up in his little volcanic kingdom, he probably wants a bigger and better kingdom! DUH! thanks Cloaked Mystery.

The crush is probably a development after kidnapping her so many times, and thus, secondary.

Hold peach a hostage, gain Mushroom kingdom... Why didn't I think of that!?

Maybe the reason why Bowser likes Peach so much is because he is cooped up in his lair with no female company and Peach just happens to catch his eye.

I agree with the whole love toward Peach thing, but have you ever considered that he may just have a kidnapping fetish? It's very possible. :3

Also, it's his thing. It's what's expected of him. :]

According to the American instruction booklet for Super Mario Bros., Peach is the only one who could undo the evil magic that Bowser had cast upon the Mushroom Kingdom; it was for this reason that Bowser had kidnapped her to begin with.

So as I read, this reason must be the original one. Don't get me wrong, he probably kidnaps her because he likes her too. But perhaps after kidnapping her so much, he finally noticed her and started to like her. *shrugs* Hope this helped.

Probably 'cause he likes her. Also, if Bowser were to marry Peach, he would gain control of the Mushroom Kingdom, since Peach is the ruler of the kingdom.
