What's Reality?

Not long ago, I picked up Excite Truck, great game. I was in the middle of a race, and all the sudden, I literally forgot it wasn't real! Has anyone else had an experience like this? or do I need to talk to the guys in the white coats? Also, do you think the Wii's controls have anything to do with it? I sure do. Please post.

It's time to put down the controller and go out for a nice long walk.

In my eleven years of gaming, I have never felt the way that you did. So from my view, that's not a good sign.

... I'm only averaging 3 hours a day... 5 on Saturdays ok sometimes more... I do other stuff... Anime is awesome. I almost forgot reality while watching Naruto... ok I did forget it... crap, I really don't have a life.

I do that sometimes. I did that when Colin got kidnapped and I was like "YOU DON'T MESS WITH COLIN!"

I have a weirder problem, when ever I am talking to someone and I say something or do something I didn't mean to my first thought is should I press the reset button? Then I smack myself and say this isn't a game stupid...

I've been pretty immersed in a game, not so immersed that I thought I was actually a character, but I was enough into it that I didn't know what was going on around me.

That's never happened to me...except maybe Final Fantasy Tactics on the PSX...I couldn't tell reality from non real for a week.

lol yeah. I kept my Hover Nozzle on in Super MArio Sunshine cause I was afraid of falling. O.o

It have happened, extremely few times though. That shows that the game has a 10 in gameplay, wich exite truck hasnt so you should seek help

I wouldn't go that far, as I don't play video games nearly as much as I did when I was little, but a similar experience happened to me once. I was playing Metroid Prime 2, where you have to run from one safe zone to the next in the "dark world" to stay alive, and I had paused the game so I could go downstairs and eat lunch. I actually began to walk down the stairs very fast, thinking, "I'd better get to a safe zone quick!" And the thing is, I had only been playing for about an hour that day.

I think that if you play any video game for an extended period of time, it's certainly possible to get so immersed in the game that your brain forgets reality to some extent. If it happens more than once though (my experience only lasted about a second), it probably does mean you need to take a good long break.

Perhaps the only game I feel as if I'm actually "in-it", is the NFL Madden Series. Currently playing '07(PS2, awaiting 2008), and every clutch moment makes me feel as I'm in it.

Yes, in big game situations I feel like the QB and the coach and am leading my team to a win. You truly get into the game.

I agree.

Try getting a nintendo system. If you start to think those games are real, then there is no question, you need to be drug off in a straight jacket. I hate games where the border between fantasy and reality is very fuzzy. If I wanted reality, I wouldn't play video games.

I think I'm adicted to Wii. It seems to be working like a drug. I see things, I have minor spurts of carpel tunnel syndrome, I lose touch with reality, and I can't stop. Woo! My obsession is back! Go Nintendo! I haven't been like this since the N64. (Best year of my life except th grade and getting 2007 so far.)
