Mario Kart 64 on Wii VC

I was planning on buying more Wii Points tommorow, so I could download it, but first I have to ask a question to anybody who Has Already Downloaded And Played It:

Does it suffer from the same defects as the Super Mario 64 transfer?

(Anyone who could answer this will know what I'm talking about)

Re: Mario Kart 64 on Wii VC

What is the super mario 64 transfer defects? I got mario kart 64, it's pretty cool - but when characters get really close to the screen its a bit more pixely than I can remember.. but maybe that's just because I'm remembering how much better DD looks.. that could be helpful to you. Oh and when I got it the special cup was already unlocked. How poopy. I wanted to unlock it myself.

Re: Mario Kart 64 on Wii VC

He's talking about the poor conversion from NTSC to PAL that the original game had. I think that Ninty has fixed that now.

Re: Mario Kart 64 on Wii VC

I was refering to graphics errors, texture "breaks" and things like that. I think the higher resolution made the graphics drift apart, if that's possible.

As for NTSC to PAL, I live in Canada and use NTSC, so I don't think thats it.

Actually it came out yesterday, at least that is when I first saw it.

I have been waiting to download Mario-Kart for awhile now, and now it is finally here.

Ah. I mistakenly read Super Mario 64 as Mario Kart 64.

Re: Mario Kart 64 on Wii VC

A thread on Mario Kart 64 (Wii VC), and I'm surprised nobody has talked about this yet: Moo Moo Farm glitch. According the the people on the video and QJ.net, it seems that theres a bug in the system that makes players go double the speed of a regular 150cc class race. Now there were 3 players on the video...I wonder if the bug starts when that happens or for any amount of players. Has this happened to all downloaded games, a few, or just theirs? It's quite obvious from the QJ.net article that there have been some "complaints" saying "Some people already got used to the Moo Moo farm speed that when they are playing in normal speed, they found it to be too slow.". Not much of a complaint I suppose, they just wanted a very fast game

Hmmm if that gives Nintendo an idea for future Mario Kart games, then F-Zero may be out of business.

Re: Mario Kart 64 on Wii VC

The Moo Moo Farm glitch is actually present in the original N64 version of the game as well... As for graphics stuff, I have heard that some of the 2D objects look a little weird, but nothing terribly bad.

VC Games are released on Monday's in North America. Europe got MK64 a few days early, but it popped up across the pond on Monday along with Contra III, Comix Zone and something else that I can't remember right now...

Re: Mario Kart 64 on Wii VC

I just got it downloaded last night, and man it is fun...just like I remember.

As for the Moo Moo Farm glitch I guess I will have to check that out, but for some reason I don't remember it being so hard.

Oh well a bit of practice and I should be able to get her down again.

Re: Mario Kart 64 on Wii VC

It has HORRIBLE texture breaks, but it is still a classic.

I wasn't plan on buying it in the first place, but seriously, that is just stupid. Like one of the commenters said:

If an N64 emulator written by random community coders can handle ghosts, please tell me why the folks at Nintendo who have access to the full N64 SDK and files can't get it to work on the Wii's Virtual Console?
Now excuse me while I go play MK64 online for free with an N64 emulator.

Yeah well I guess it would have been nice if nintendo would have done something about it, instead of sitting on there lazy asses doing nothing. But hell I don't really care, the only reason I really got MK64 was for the multi-player, and as it did in the past it delivers on the fun factor.

Now all they need to do is get the rights from Microsoft and bring goldeneye back and I will be a happy camper.

The Goldeneye license is not owned by Rare anymore. It is a complicated game because of this reason, but I believe it currently needs Activision to give permission to release it.
