Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2
Right, so, I'm not sure if a game that didn't belong to the Zelda franchise has ever gotten me as excited as Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 (Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! Neo in Japan).
But do you know what I find to be really odd? I have my doubts about the quality of the game. I've read almost nothing but bad reviews. For example, I've heard that the story mode isn't all it's made out to be. I knew the voice overs would be terrible, as they always have been, and the cast makes me want to cry, but it's supposedly really lackluster. And of course, I don't intend to go out and buy a PS2 to be able to play, which means, perhaps unfortunately, I will need to use the Wii's somewhat bizarre control scheme. Personally, I don't quite understand why I need to point to the sky in order to block. You know what, though? I don't particularly care. If people looked for excellent story content and control simplicity in their fighting games, Dragon Ball Z would not be the ideal choice. Hell, I'm even looking forward to the repetitive retelling of Goku's long story. The thing that seems most promising about this game, though, in my opinion, is the huge cast of characters. I think there are over a hundred and twenty character once you count every character's alternate forms. Join me when I say "holy ****," won't you? And the most wonderful thing about that insanely huge amount of characters is the fact that many of them are some of the most kickass heroes of our generation. Now, I don't know about people who aren't really big DBZ fans, but personally, I can't wait to kick the **** out of Hercule with SSJ4 Gogeta. I've never played Tenkaichi, so I'm not up to date with all the features it included, but I'd never been introduced to the tag team aspect of Budokai. Again, the diverse selection of characters comes into play here. A five on five match would be amazing. Now, some of the negative points are obviously still there, but not nearly apparent enough to dampen my anticipation. First on my list of irksome traits, though, are the barriers and the problems with the camera they're rumoured to create. Also, there's the steep learning curve revolving around the controls for the Wii, but with that you get what might just be one of the most satisfying elements ever introduced to DBZ gaming. Everyone here who would like to be able to shoot a Kamehameha and completely annihilate someone, raise their hand. As I thought. Another reason why PS3ers have such small e-penises. No offense meant, of course. So, am I in for a serious disappointment? :XD
