Halo 3 Hype Thread

I'm hoping for a long epic story mode... But meh. I'm not getting my hopes up on that.

It seems like Bungie is working on the multiplayer more than the story... >.>

Which sucks.

I can't wait to not play this.

Not really he was just saying what alot of people are thinking tbh, I love Halo, but I ahte Mircosoft and I will suffer to deny them even the smallest sum of money.

Although that may be nothing whatsoever to do with his feelings on the topic, I feel that Halo 3 is going to suck, its going to suck monkey balls.... that means its gonna be really **** in case your too sucked in to the hypemachine to notice.

Oh, fine, I'll list my problems with Halo 3:

1. It's got marginally improved graphics!
2. Master Chief is annoying.
3. Cortana is still not naked.
4. It looks like it's going to play exactly the same as the last two Halo games.

Well, okay, the only valid point is really the last one. I have very low expectations for Halo 3. Aside from the multiplayer mode, which I fully expect will be identical to Halo 2 (and will undoubtedly contain another Blood Gulch), but still fun, and the storyline, which is what a lot of people seem to be buying the game for, there is absolutely nothing that makes me interested in Halo 3. Halo was decent, Halo 2 was the exact same game with slightly better graphics and better multiplayer, and I doubt Bungie is really going to go all-out with Halo 3. Of course, that won't stop it from being a fun shooting romp... but when other shooters like Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Prey, Resistance: Fall of Man, Black, and hell, even Call of Duty are continually raising the bar, Halo 3 can't help but look about five years old.

As for the stunning similarity game play wise, thats because there was never meant to be a Halo3 it was supposed to finish in Halo 2. However pressure to release and pressure to draw out the series for maximum selling potential cause them to split it into two, Halo 2 and Halo 3.


Graphically however they are using a completely different engine, so expect some awesome looking cut scenes, but thats about it.

I'd have to disagree...

Having played many of the current FPS titles, including a few that you've listed... I for one look forward to Halo 3. Every single FPS seems to be the same now days. I think this is partially why Gears of War is doing so well right now. Yes Halo 3 will sell on hype alone, but do you honestly think Microsoft in all it's (rich) glory would allow Halo 3 to be a niche title? Do you really think Microsoft intends on having Halo 3 be forgotten, with Halo 2 as the key memorable title in the series?

Something about Halo 3 has to be good, and different. Micorsoft knows this, and I'm sure they're ramming it down Bungie's throat.

If anyone read anthing that I posted in the first post... they'd no something would be good about Halo 3.

Personally, I think there has to be something new about the title other than a form of weaponry or vehicle.

Gears of War didn't really create anything new to the Shooter genre, it just made it work really well. (I know first hand) Halo 3 needs to do something along those similar lines, not just improve on what they already have laid out for them from Halo 2.

Halo 3's going to fall short of expectation's exactly like Halo 2. They haven't released much Gameplay information, on how exactly it will play, or any story. They're going to overhype it so much, that everyone buys, and when blinded by overhype. You think the game is perfect. There's alot of people out there who claim they liek FPS's, but the only things notice, or even pay attention to is shooting the hell out of things.

Halo 2 disapointed me, but I'm eventually going to play Halo 3, why? Because of Halo:CE.

Halo 2 didn't dissapoint me at all.

It was the first gmae in the series I played...

It was actually better than I thought it would be.

CE has a great campaign and Halo 2 has wonderful mutil player... I'm hoping Halo 3 will still have the great multi (wth better weapon balance) and have an epic campaign...

But whatever.

I thought Halo 2 was great as a continuation to the game series, but I always thought that CE is better. Halo 2 felt like the multiplayer expansion with better graphics to me.

Thats basically all Halo 2 is.

Anything other than humanity's complete defeat and the Halo's activating/Flood victory will just not fit with the rest of the story's points and will be lame. Look at Halo: the humans have been horribly destroyed for twenty-seven years and now they don't even have their last planet Earth. The Covenant is still going strong, because of one certain unfortunate thing in Ghosts of Onyx the Covenant have no one to oppose them, the flood are stuck in the torn apart and nearly destroyed High Charity, meaning that they are not going anywhere soon, any activation of the Halo's won't phase the Covenant since they are on/in the Ark, any survivors will be wiped out by the Covenant/Flood, etc. Basically, anything other than a dark ending of failure just won't add up with how Bungie and Nylund have made Halo.

Honestly, the race you are trying to protect has failed in everything and is almost extinct, the only person you can save is yourself, an accident has prevented you from having any real ally forces, and you basically won't accomplish anything, making the point of trying pointless. With that in mind, Halo has been overhyped since Fall of Reach.

I concur, I never liked Halo, this one looks ok, but I can't take anything from this teaser to put two and two together.

He got knocked out? Jumped into a swarm of enemies, sounds like a great game.

No never gave a reason.

I don't like that the aiming circle in huge, minus the sniper rifle.
I don't like the enviorments.
I don't like the story, I don't like th stupidity on the marines.
I don't like that there are more than just the one Halo.
I personally think the ideas were strewn together to continue the sucess of the game.

My god i'm not saying that it isn't sucessful, I just never enjoyed my time playing the game.

I can kinda agree with you on that... When I played Halo 2 I knew the basic plot of the first game (I had never played it though) and I was like WTF...? Kinda lame.

But if there was only one it'd be hard to find and whipe out the flood more than one time...

Did the forunners build Halo...? I can't remember...
