OTHER release games for the Wii

besides the well anticipated twilgiht princess for the Wii, do we know what other games are being released during the grand opening for the wii?

i hope to see a mario game, it just seems right having a mario to suit a new nintendo console. maybe a good 2 + player game too, like brawl' or maybe a new mario kart...

but anyways, what other games are being launced with the wii?

Re: OTHER release games for the Wii

Wikipeda has the list of launch titles for the Wii.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_launch_titles

Nintendo doesn't really have any good launch titles for the Wii. Sorry, no new Mario games. Expect to see some in 2007 though (same goes for Super Smash Bros. Brawl).

Red Steel and Excite Truck look good to me! But no, no Mario launch game... for the first time EVA! Unless you don't count Luigi's Mansion as a Mario Game. Meh...

Re: OTHER release games for the Wii

What? There are other launch games coming out for the Wii? Wow.

But seriously, only around 3 of those games look good. Luckily for Nintendo, everyone with a Wii will be so preoccupied with Twilight Princess that it will buy them enough time to actually release a good game or two.

Re: OTHER release games for the Wii

Where Wii's launch succeeds is in the variety, nearly every game genre is covered by at least one game (and in many points, more than that total).

Racing- Need for Speed Carbon, Excite Truck, Monster Truck 4x4, GT Pro Racing, Tony Hawk Downhill Jam etc.

Mini game/Party- Rayman Raving Rabbids, Monkey Ball Banana Blitz, Wario Ware etc.

FPS- Call of Duty 3, Far Cry Vengeance, Red Steel

Other shooters- Splinter Cell Double Agent, Metal Slug Anthology

Action/Adventure- Twilight Princess, Marvel Ultimate Alliance

Sports- Wii Sports, Super Swing Golf, Madden 07

Fighting- Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2

Other- Trauma Center Second Opinion, Elebits, Wing Island etc.

Of course, not all of those games are at launch right away, but at the latest they're only three or four weeks afterwards.

Are all of those games going to be good? No, that's for sure, but that doesn't change the fact that Wii's launch library is probably the most diverse of any system's in history. Right now, I'll say that I'm probably only going to buy TP and Red Steel right away, but if reviews are good enough, Metal Slug, Rayman and Far Cry may earn my purchase, or at least a rental.

Shoot! You beet me to it! I was going to say the exact same thing!

Actually, I've been so consumed with TP, I've hardly given any other games any thought. I like what I see from Red Steal, but I doubt I, personally, would be interested in anything else. I know at Wal-Mart, they supposedly already have one or two games available, even though the system doesn't come out until Sunday.

Re: OTHER release games for the Wii

Wait, Super Mario Galaxy isn't a launch title anymore? Crapping heck. One half of my pre-ordered Wii games are not for launch anymore.

Crap.

Don't expect anything special. I'm not getting a Wii immediately because the only game I want for it will also be available for a console I already have. Launch titles always suck.

Diverse, perhaps. But definitely not all of them going to be good, like you said. If the games are not going to be that great, then no matter how diverse it is, it won't change anything that much.

Re: OTHER release games for the Wii

But the majority of them should at least be good, very few seem to be terrible, and many are getting respectable reviews. Going beyond that, what the diversity does is create an excellent set of games to attract casual gamers, the type of people that don't read about the titles beforehand and really don't care if it's not magnificant.

Sure, the selection isn't phenominal, but has any system had that luxury at launch? No, not really, though Wii probably has the best we've seen.

Re: OTHER release games for the Wii

Well Mirren do alot of those games appeal to Hardcore-gamers, maybe the addition of the VC, but we want knew nostalgies to bestow upon at launch. With the exception of TP, and Red Steel the game has proven worthiness, let's just admit people.

I mean Mirren yes we can wait 4 months later for the good 1st party Nintendo games coming out, but I think making atleast more than TP is a bold approach wouldn't you say.

Re: OTHER release games for the Wii

Far Cry, Call of Duty 3, Splinter Cell, GT Pro Racing, Excite Truck and Metal Slug all are for the more regular gamers. And Trauma Center and Monkey Ball have been said to be just as challenging and engaging as ever.

Ever think that Nintendo doesn't have as many first party titles as we'd expect because they're taking their time with them, to make sure that they play well? Or perhaps that they don't want TP to have great competition, or simply that they've that put much attention to the game?

I mean, Metroid Prime Corruption was at one time set as a launch title, but now the delay allows Nintendo more time to work on it, and the newest video of it shows a great improvement in the graphics, something far better than the E3 versions. That may not have been possible had Nintendo rushed it out to launch.

Besides Zelda i'm really looking forward to playing Rayman Raving Rabbids, It looks like a great little game with alot of humor which is always great! Just the Bunny Scientific Facts are hillarious. So I guess ill pick it up at launch.

Exactly. Casual gamers are being targeted for Wii. Hardcore or dedicated gamers (just dedicated to games in general, not to specific company) will think otherwise for such launch-title line-ups for Wii.

Re: OTHER release games for the Wii

I've now for a while now what launch titles I would be picking up. Along with Zelda is red steel just because it has interested me so and raving rabbids, because sporks birthday is the day after launch down here and ever third day I see him laughing at yet another bunny's don't video. I'm waiting for a review of ultimate alliance because thats one of my maybe games if I have extra money that week. One or two other titles on mirren's list I'll be getting as christmas presents for myself or spork or the other brother. And of course Wi sports already comes with the machine.

Its a fairly good line up despite the absence of a mario title, but hey if Mario Galaxy is going to be as good as I think it is I can ait.

Re: OTHER release games for the Wii

Besides Twilight Princess, I'm also picking up Red Steel on launch day. However, there are still a few more games that have really gotten my attention. Games like Rayman Raving Rabbids(Love the Rayman games), Far Cry Vengeance, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz and a few others may be possible games to ask for Christmas, or at least a rental. Compared to some launches, Nintendo has a very stellar list of titles available at launch.

There are plenty of hardcore gamers out there who like Wii's launch line up. You know why? Because it's not all casual-titles either, as I mentioned, and listed before, there are plenty of games meant to be played by the dedicated gamer. It's a good mix; there's a lot of games designed to attract casual and non-gamers, and a lot of games designed to attract hardcore gamers.

And it's not as if a casual gamer can't be interested in something like Far Cry or Zelda. What I was trying to say before about the casual gamer is that a wide variety of titles and genre should appeal to them, because they have no specific devotion to one company or game-type. They'll see Wii and see that there is a wide selection of different ways to play, and that will be a seller for a lot of people.
