How much would the Wii cost if HD was added?
I would like to know. If it would be about $300 dollars, I wouldn't really mind. That seems like a great price for the Wii. Considering how much is actually in the Wii (the motion sensing and what not (the Wii-mote and Nunchuck together are $60)). I however do think that HD isn't a big deal, it's not. I'm just saying it'd be nice. What do you think?

If you mean buying an HD-TV, then you are going to be in debt for a long time. HD-TVs are not cheap. Go to like http://www.bestbuy.com or something to check out the prices.

Re: How much would the Wii cost if HD was added?
if you mean to add hd to the wii, well first you would need 512 Mb in volatile memory in order to hold high resolution textures, a much more powerful graphics card to display them, a faster processor to do more work with the more detailed objects on screen...
you would end up with a 360 clone with a more expensive controller.

Re: How much would the Wii cost if HD was added?
The Wii is already vastly overpriced for Nintendo's own profit margin, but HD could be added costing the consumer no more than $250. It just depends how much of a hit Nintendo would want to take for each sale. A medium end HD console could easily be done for $300 or so, however.
It doesn't take a lot to do HD, it just takes a lot to do HD in mind blowing proportions. I really wouldn't have minded if Nintendo made HD their "Progressive Scan" of this generation, where only a few games support it. But instead, we get nothing, with Nintendo making a huge profit by using old hardware.

Re: How much would the Wii cost if HD was added?
I'd say the Wii would cost as much as an Xbox 360. HD, at this point, is still a bad move. Few people have HDTVs and don't have the money for one. Sure, I plan to get an HDTV someday, but I also need to get other things too. Adding HD to the Wii would just raise the price of the console just so that a few rich people could enjoy slightly better graphics. The majority of people will suffer.

Re: How much would the Wii cost if HD was added?
I honestly don't begrudge Nintendo their profit. Seriously, Nintendo can't really affoard to rake up a massive debt for 4 years and then turn a profit in the fifth, as Sony seems to love doing, they just can't support it. As for lack of HD, they do have a point, HD saturation isn't really expected until the end of this console cycle, so why spend the extra $50 (or whatever it is) to include it? If you're annoyed about the graphics you're missing the point. (Yes, I know that graphics do play a large role, and that having HD would be very nice for the 4% (or some such) of people who own an HD-TV and want to shell out for the cables, but I don't think the increase in sales would offset the increased cost of production. However, feel free to hold out hope for the 2nd gen Wii that Nintendo has announced it's making for Japan and possibly the rest of the world.)

Re: How much would the Wii cost if HD was added?
Eh, big deal, I say. On my part, I wouldn't want to spend more money for a feature I'll never be able to enjoy, and HD is no where near being 'standard' around the world that it'd be a serious issue. No one will be buying Wii for anything remotely close to a visual masterpiece, so this should do little, if anything to affect sales.
