What games have you bought but wish you didn't?

I got quite a few,

Maximo
Tekken 4 (only 20 bucks tho )
Kiss Psycho Circus (got this for like 3 bucks, lolz)
Duke Nukem Time to Kill
Black and White
Turok 2
Dino Crisis (sorta.... RE is just so much better)

There's prolly more, but I can't think of em....

Re: Regretable game purchases?

Boring gameplay. It was nothing but doing work and chores. WE NEED MORE FOOD! MORE LUMBER! MORE HOUSES! Whine whine whine.

Winning also was contradictory. How can I win as a bad guy? To be bad I have to kill stuff, but if I kill my own people, and destroy their houses, I lose power and my influence sphere! How can I win as a good guy? I can't kill their stuff, but they can kill my stuff!! wtf?

Re: Regretable game purchases?

Black and white is all about balance man! BALANCE! Totally good cannot win, and totally evil can't either.

Hmm...dissapointments...I'm not really sure I regret any of my game purchases, since they either cost 5 bucks or I had seen, played, and decided I liked them before purchasing.

Re: Regretable game purchases?

Hey, I like Maximo! That game was awesome. Still, I could see why you wouldn't like it. Th egame play is kind of repetative. I like it, though. Lot's of jumping and slicing up zombies.

Let's see, regretable game purchases? Well, the top of my list would be Star Wars Bounty Hunter. One of the worst games I've ever seen. The gameplay's okay, but the levels are just horrible.

I'd say Robotech: Battlecry, but I really like the multiplayer mode in that. Say what you want, I like transforming robots!

GCN or GBA? I enjoyed the GCN version. The only problem was that it was too easy and too short.

Mine would probably be FFTA. Terrible storyline, annoying ability system.

Re: Regretable game purchases?

Tekken 4 is fun!

hmmmm regrets..... Oh some of these games are my favorites but I will put them in just because SOME people might regret buying them.

Harry Potter: And the Chamber of Secrets-----------GCN

To easy and short, the quests during the night time are very repetetive. The side quests are practicaly pointless, even a harry potter fan would find something boring about it.

Zones Of the Enders------------------ PS2

This is one of my all timefavorite games, it is a bit too short and some people might regret buying it.

Golden Sun----------- GBA

I also find this game alot of fun, the only reason I can thk of people regretting to buy this is not getting to finish all the light houses.

Leisure suit larry------------ PC, Xbox, PS2
Many people might regret buying this because of the dirty jokes and the storyline... some people might buy it for......

You mean the new Leisure Suit Larry game? You realize that it's actually an old classic series of graphic adventure games made for the pc back in the 80s right?

Re: Regretable game purchases?

Hmm, I'd have to say I regret buying Pikmin. I mean, it was fun and all, but it really didn't have any replay value, and the thrity day limit was simply too demanding for the casual player that likes to go at their own pace.

Re: Regretable game purchases?

3 RPG's that I regret buying

Dual Hearts~ gameplay is terrible, its a Zelda rip-off

Dark Cloud~ The second one makes this look like crap. The thirst, weapons breaking, and repetitive dungeons....ughh! its horrible!

.hack: Truly a great animé/manga series, but the game is the king of repetitive-ness. The story is ok, but all of it together is NOT worth $200+ tax. Talk about short........

Re: Regretable game purchases?

Bah... Leisure Suit Larry is the best... damn you! Arrrrghhh! But seriously, they are good adventure games, and real funny.

Hmm... games I regret buying... not too many.

Carmageddon 64 - totally dumb, nothing like the PC iterations.

Harry Potter: CoS - well, I didn't really spend much on it... about AU$30, but I just couldn't get into it. Its not a bad game, but its just sooo corny.

Burnout - just because Burnout 2 blows it out of the water. Not worth playing anymore.

Can't think of too many more. There are probably a few PC games I bought out of the so many hundred I own that I regret owning, but none that really pop up in my head.

I just started playing Pikmin, and I'm going to have to agree with you on the time limit being demanding. It can be pretty hard to get the neccesary pieces in thirty days, let alone all thirty. A friend of mine said he got all thirty with eight days to spare, but he was playing it nonstop.

Anyway, while it's true the game is pretty straightforward, it does have some replay value, especially if you like RTS games. I've been playing challenge mode, where you try to grow as many pikmin as you can in one day, and it's a lot of fun. In conclusion, while this game isn't for everyone, if you like ordering thousands of tiny plant minions, and who doesn't, you should at least try this game.

Re: Regretable game purchases?

"In conclusion..." - I hate that phrase.

Second, I am a huge fan of RTS games. I'm a Warcraft III fanatic (though don't play it much right now), and have played nearly every popular RTS game on the market. However, Pikmin isn't really a strategy game from my point of view. It's more of a...puzzle/organization game. The console controller also makes the controls a bit too simplistic. Not that it's a bad thing, but it would be much easier to organise/command your Pikmin with a few more buttons.

Re: Regretable game purchases?

Man, I knew that ending sentence would come back to haunt me! Either way, you do have a point that Pikmin is not as much of an RTS as Warcraxt or something. I'm just saying Pikmin's worth a look if you like RTS games but, for some reason I couldn't in a thousand years comprhend, don't have a good computer. If you are like that, though, I'd get Goblin Commander. But, I'm getting off subject now.
