Re: Game Recommendations V.2

I have been thinking about purchasing these games, but I would like to know whether they're any good first, so has anyone played; Sega Soccer Slam, or Minority Report, and are they worth buying?

Get Dead Rising instead of PDZ. It's easily the best zombie game on the market today mostly becuase instead of just a few zombies like you have in say the RE games you have hundreads all at once.

Re: Game Recommendations V.2

I have a question: I am getting a Wii for Christmas, but I have no Gamecube. I wanted to get some GC games to tide me over after I finish TP and am waiting for some new game (coughcoughSSBBcoughcough) to come out for the Wii.

What RPG style games would you recommend for the GC? I was thinking Tales of Symphonia, Fire Eblem, or FF:CC but they got mixed reviews. Which RPGs are worth it?

Well, I've played Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, and it's ok, it's got a cool battle system, but it doesn't have much of a story, it just basically repeats over and over, but new areas appear each time you beat it. And I've also played "Lord of the Rings: The Third Age", you can switch out every piece of your character's armor, I still haven't beat it, a few of the bosses can be hard to beat, but it's cool, the controls are good, and the graphics are awesome. "Pokemon: Colosseum" is also cool.

Re: Game Recommendations V.2

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't really care about the story THAT much, and when I played CC I really liked the gameplay, as you said. I'll just check out all of them, but thanks for letting me know about LOTR.

Re: Game Recommendations V.2

Alright I've got 3600 Wii Points on my VC and I already have: Sonic the Hedgehog, Gunstar Heroes and Donkey Kong Country. I was thinking of some games but I don't know If I should get them.

SimCity (SNES)?
Super Castlevania IV (SNES)?
F-Zero (SNES)?
Super Mario 64 (N64)?
Super Mario Bros (NES)?
Golden Axe (MegaDrive)?

I know their all good but can anyone tell me which one is best? Alternatively I was thinking of waiting for Mario Kart 64, Super Mario Kart & Zelda: Majora's Mask. I would appreciate any help, thanks.

Re: Game Recommendations V.2

Did you ever play the original Super Mario 64? Because that's the only one I can really recommend. Mario Bros is NOT Super Mario Bros. Mario Bros is the arcade game that came along with almost every GBA Mario game ever created. Some people have been mistaking that download for Super Mario Bros, which is the platformer with mushrooms and overworlds and such. So make sure you know what you'd be getting.

At least I think so. Maybe someone can come along and prove me wrong; I haven't looked into the shopping channel much myself.
I have got Super Mario 64 (and it is good) but is it worth buying twice? As for Super Mario Bros. I nean the one that is not the arcade version but where you cross levels and reach the castle, I have it on Game Boy Colour, but again, is it worth buying twice?

Re: Game Recommendations V.2

To my knowledge, Super Mario Bros isn't available for download. On the Wii site anyway, the only one listed is Mario Bros, the arcade game.

If I already had a working Super Mario 64 on the N64, I probably wouldn't get it again. My N64 broke, so I got SM64 DS, but it's really not the same as the original, so I plan to get the Wii version soon.

Sorry I edit my posts so much.

Re: Game Recommendations V.2

Ello' again.

I'm looking for a new DS game to get. I'm thinking something that uses the touch screen more, but I don't know what to get really. The only Wi-fi games left that intrest me at the moment are Starfox Command and FFIII. But I don't think either of them make good use of the touch screen, so I wouldn't be certain.

I liked Metroid alot, but the overall story and 1 player modes never really interested me. It was all in the multiplayer. I have a feeling command is like that too. FFIII supposedly isn't, but it's not the only fish in the sea.
Out of these three, I'm really more leniant towards Command though.. Because I like flight and spacy type things.

Any suggestions?

Re: Game Recommendations V.2

Well, I highly recommend...

Nintendo DS

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin

This new entry in the Castlevania series is by far one of the funnest games I've played on the DS, for a long time. Not only does it offer countless hours of exploring, item collecting, monter hunting and quest findings, but the gameplay in it's self is highly fun and adds more to the Castlevania series. (Also, there is a ton to unlock!!!)

The games graphics are fairly fine, but the thing that kills the game, is it's level design. If anyone has played Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, one can see that there are individual details in every part of the castle, which makes the place unique... Well, in PoR, things are overly tiled at times and I feel like it detracts from the experience somewhat. As for the individual sprites? Well, the new ones are quite well done, though there is still a lot of sprites that have been ripped from Rondo of Blood, SotN and DoS.

Now the music is absolutely superb, though in all it isn't quite as refined as Dawn of Sorrows, it still has an excellent track. Most of the music for the environments fits perfectly and if you know some of Castlevania's past music, you can distinguish some similarities that are present in Michiru Yamane/Yuzo Koshiro recent works. My favorite tracks consist of:

Victorian Fear

The Hidden Curse

Overture (Anyone who has played one of the 3 past Castlevania's will instantly recognize this song. You can figure out what Castlevania it came from, I don't want to spoil.)

And much more, in which I wont list due to spoilage.
This game also pays major homage to the series as a whole and builds on the story line of the Sega Genesis Castlevania: Bloodlines, along with many other nods here and there. (Which I really can't describe without spoiling.)

So if anyone is looking for a well polished, fun, fluidly good paced 2D game of quality. One may want to pick up Portrait of Ruin, I sure won't regret doing so... : )

Re: Game Recommendations V.2

For Jump manga addicts who own a DS, I highly recommend
Jump Ultimate Stars
-It's an updated version of the earlier DS game Jump Super stars.
- Important: It's only out in Japan, and will never be out in america or anywhere else for that matter, because of licensing issues. So it's all in japanese (most of the game does not rely heavily on text anyway and faq online have translations)
-Jump Ultimate stars is a fighting game that feels like a super smash brothers but with Shonen Jump Characters.
- It has more 300 different characters included from 41 different manga
- It's a fun and enjoyable game, you'll travel around different manga based planets and go one various missions to unlock new characters, worlds and most importantly obtain points which can buy you some special prizes in the shop.

These are just the main points to the game, but basically it's a lot of fun to just fight against jump manga characters and create teams of your favorite ones. Manga fans should definately look into this game.

Re: Game Recommendations V.2

Alright so since I got my Wii I thought it'd be a suitable time to acquire some GC games I've always wanted but I never ended up getting. I got a quite extensive list already and I need you to tell me if these are worth getting or if there's anything else you recommend. The games are Smash Bros Melee, Timesplitters: Future Perfect and Resident Evil 4. I have TimeSplitters 2 and I love it, and that's why I want FP. I want SSMB because I got the N64 version and I've heard nothing but great remarks regarding RE4. For TS and SSMB, do these games differ from the previous titles and are they worth getting? And for RE4, what's so good about it?

My main games I already have are: Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime Echoes, Paper Mario, Mario Sunshine, Timesplitters 2, Zelda Wind Waker, Mario Kart, FF Crystal Chronicles, Luigi's Mansion, Starfox Adventures, THPS 3/4/UG1/UG2, Mario Party 4 and that's about it.

So if there's anything else you can feel free tell me that too.

Re: Game Recommendations V.2

Get Mario Party 7! It's absolutely awesome! I was a huge fan of the first Mario Party game and I so wanted to get my hands on MP7! After months of looking for a copy, I finally did, and I love it!

Oh yeah, and get TP if you don't have that. That game is uber awesome too. ^^
