Re: Do You Play Warhammer?
The warhammer web site is a little stupid but nothing compared to how stupid WOW was...

Re: Do You Play Warhammer?
I like WoW...but anyway........ D&D minis are more tactical compared to the GW minis and feel more satisfying, in my opinion, the GW stuff is good for showcasing, the painting and collecting, etc. the rules are slightly flawed and different races in 40K are definatly unbalanced, whereas D&D has the purpose of being available to use in your normal D&D games or in exciting skirmishes.

Re: Do You Play Warhammer?
I'd say about 70% of people who play warhammer only showcase them. But the GW rules for any of the games are really complicated and somewhat stupid. How is anybody going to memerise like 82+ pages of rules? But all in all I like warhammer the way it is.

Re: Do You Play Warhammer?
They really pissed off people when they announced it was gonna be a fantasy based MMO. It would have kicked lots of ass if it was a 40k MMO.
I play Warhammer, but not the tabletop game. I've played the hell outta Firewarrior and Dawn Of War. |

Okay, that's an exaggeration, but still, Warhammer is about as balanced as Smash Bros. |

Space marines are probably one of the best troops in the game. But that in mind, they're 15 points each. That's 150 points for ten marines, which isn't exactly cheap. I play Tau, and I can field 12 Fire Warriors for that with a Shas'Ui and a markerlight, and they've got 30", S5, AP4 Rapid fire weapons. That may sound unbalanced at 10 points per FW, but they're only effective against a ten-man squad of MEQs (Marine equivalent, 3+ save and T 4) at a range of twelve inches. And at twelve inches, are Tau going to live long against marines? No way. But marines aren't so good against other MEQs, especially Necrons. Where Marines fail, Necrons succeed. Marines can DEFINITELY be defeated by Necrons. Necrons have weapons that automatically wound on a 6 and automatically cause a glancing hit on a 6 against ANY vehicle, up to twenty necrons in a single troops selection, the We'll Be Back! special rule (allows them a 50% chance of them standing up againthe next after being destroyed) and jetbikes that can move 24" and still fire Heavy 3 weapons, they're a force to be reckoned with. But, that being said, they're NOT cheap. A Necron warrior is 18 points, and you have to take at least twenty in one force, along with a Necron Lord, then a basic army, with one HQ and two Troops, is 460 points. That's expensive. And now back to marines. If you play an army that moves forwards slowly, using random fire at just the closest units, you have a small chance of winning. Troop weapons CAN cut through Power Armour, especially if you're firepower is concentrated. I know this, because every weekend I play with my Tau army against my dad's (yes, my father, it is sad) Space Marines. And Tau are the masters of mobile warfare, and can ONLY win if they apply their firepower on exposed units. You have to start working on your plan before the game, and it has to come into play on the first turn. Jetbikes are good for this. Orks are good for this. If you throw massive, cheap swarms at them, sure, they're likely to pass the Target Priority test, but the chances of them passing EVERY Target priority test in the game are very slim. That being said, Space Marines have a VERY respectable save, but there are a lot of AP 3 weapons out there, and the chances of all the saves being effective is very slim when you fire twenty troops weapons at them, about two (maybe three) of the marines will fall. Imagine what would happen if you aimed all your firepower at their big squads and vehicles: no-one can stand that. Not even a Carnifex can stand that, nor a Dreadnought. Space Marines are a very Tactical force, and only extremely simple Tactics (like sending sixty Ork Boyz after them), or very complicated tactics (like Tactics that involve precise timing when your units are all over the board, something that takes until the last turn to come into effect (cutting it close, though)) tend to be effective against them, unless of course you're playing an Undivided, straight Chaos Marines army. One Space Marine save is a 66% chance. We all know that somethings going to die when you're playing against Marines, but it doesn't have to be your own men.
