General Video Game sports

Hmm ok this thread is gonna be where we are gonna discuss Video Game sports. That means, anything you regularly play as a video game sport can be discussed here. I've done searches before creating this thread, and found no related topics.

Here is what I want and how other members would want it to be:
- Discuss about any game related to sports (ex: Mario Kart 64)
- Tell us why you played this game and give your pros and cons.
- Do you think more games will be developped in future consoles? (ex: Mario Kart on Wii could be a possibility)
- You have heard much about a cool game, but you never tried it before. Explain why you want to play this game.

Well, that's about it. If you have anything else related to sports, don't hesitate and give your comments for the other users. They might like to play these games, you know?

I think they should bring back Diddy Kong Racing for the Wii. It would put a whole new dynamic to the Wii. Personally, I thought that Mario Kart 64 didn't really live up to Diddy Kong Racing. In Mario Kart, you mainly (but not all the time) race around a track. Diddy Kong Racing, I thought was fun, because you can race up and down castles. There is also a level that you race in the water. If the Wii brought back DK Racing, I would buy it.

Won't happen, Rare owns Diddy Kong Racing, and Rare works for Microsoft.

Ya, but it came out on N64 wich is Nintendo. So why wouldn't they bring it out on the Wii?

Nintendo can go ahead and make a new Diddy Kong Racing game if they feel like since they own the Donkey Kong franchise.

Rare is currently working on a DS port.

For the same reason that you won't see any Rare games from the NES or SNES (Asside from Donkey Kong games) on the VC, and why you won't see Banjo Kazooie/Twooie.

Rare owns the games, and unless Nintendo owns the characters (They don't own Banjo from DKR), then they can't bring them onto the VC without the developer's permission, which Rare is unlikely to give.

Yesterday I rented Madden NFL 07, and so far it seems to be just like Madden 06 with updated rosters. Although, I haven't played it much, and I think their are some features like control your blockers that I haven't tried out yet. I wanted to play Madden 07 because Madden 06 was really fun, so the next game should be cool also, and also since Shaun Alexander is on the cover

I tend to buy about one Madden game per generation. I am simply too big of a football fan to pass it up. By and large these games disappoint, but I absolutley love managing the rosters, creating players, and negotiating trades. I don't find the actual gameplay to be overly realistic, or even very fun.

Never understood those people who buy it year in and year out.

If you put racing under the sports genre, then I like Mario Kart and F-Zero. I despise racing sims.

My personal favorite sports game is Madden, but only if I'm playing with a friend because the computer controlled teams are morons. Even on the harder difficulties the computers suck because you can simply use the same plays over and over and they'll never catch on. I'm probably going to buy Madden 2007 on the Wii because I haven't bought a Madden game in a while and also because it'll be a new experience due to the Wiimote.

Other sports franchises I like include Mario Kart, any basketball or hockey game (no specific franchise), Mario Tennis and any wrestling game (My favorite being No Mercy on the N64).

One racing game series I've always wanted to try is F-Zero, but I haven't because the opportunity never came about.

I usually try every sports with Mario in it... I don't know, maybe I'm a big fan of his. Let's see... Mario golf 64, Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, Mario Golf: Avanced Tour, Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart: Double Dash, Mario Tennis 64, Super Mario Strikers... oh, I forgot what was the others.... anyway there's a big chance that they will return on the Wii (I'm speaking about new games, not the ones that'll be downloadable).

I've avoided video game sports most of the time... but when I do get them I like them. I remember Internantional Superstar Soccer on the N64... it was wicked.

The only other time I played them was at my friends house, like wrestling. Since he is a heavy wrestling fan.

I love sports. Especially football.

But I've never been a fan of sports video games. They do such a terrible job of recreating the experience, in my opinion.

Im really hoping that SSX for Wii will be as good as on tour was.

Well actually you can't expect worse from a next-gen console. The gameplay could be a totally different play style, which will affect the user's gaming style.

I like to play FIFA STREET 2 as there are awesome tricks to do and is much more interesting than the normal football one.

I prefer playing Mario Kart with my friends and I hope they make some games on the Wii! Playing online should be cool! Don't you think?

Yes, like I said earlier, any sports that will be on the Wii should be alot better than their previous gen consoles, as they will (or will not, I doubt it) be online.

Watch out what your saying, because the fact that they will or not be online does not determine if they will be better (e.g.: Zelda TP). Sure, it'll be fun, and that is mostly what players search from games, but there is also many more criterias such as graphics.

I like Mario Football (Can't remember actual name) and I can't wait for 'Strikers Charged'. I'm also really excited about Mario Hoops 3-on-3 because I love basketball, Mario and Square Enix. Is anyone else waiting desperately for it to come? And is it WiFi? It should be

It's called Super Mario Strikers and Strikers Charged will likely be online. Mario Hoops 3-on-3 could use to be wifi, as for desperately waiting it to come, it won't happen to me, as I don't have a DS (yet).
