Pokémon Colosseum an rpg?

Have a look at thesescreens.

They seem to indicate that it may have rpg style gameplay rather then that of the pokemon stadium games.
Also find the a japanese ad at this site
More info shall be on the way.

Re: Pokémon Colosseum an rpg?

According to the official nintendo website Fourth quater 2003 for japan. That means sometime next month most likely. So expect it to reach western markets in the first or second quater quater of 2004.

Re: Pokémon Colosseum an rpg?

That would be uber-cool if they pulled it off right.

I bought Pokemon Stadium 2 for the N64 and although it had some good points I really disliked the pokemon's transitions from 2D to 3D. They were graphically ok I just disliked the style. This however seems pretty nice
One of the other Pokemon games planned for the GCN, Pokemon Box I think, seems like another way for Nintendo to milk the already stale Pokemon for all that they are worth.

Re: Pokémon Colosseum an rpg?

Uh, nice. But what does one do in this game? The other Pokemon games use alot of RPG (it is RPG games of course) but this reminds me of some strange ''FF''-like game.

Re: Pokémon Colosseum an rpg?

Will, I think they'll be doing pretty much the same thing as always. Go around, become Pokemon Master, beat Evil Team X, etc. It'd be nice to have some more important character interaction, multiple endings, etc.

However, I have a sneaking suspicion that it'll just be similar to the "story mode" of the previous Stadiums...

Re: Pokémon Colosseum an rpg?

well if it is like a regular pokemon game with 3-d Gamecube Graphics I would definatly want it. I can just imagine walkin around in the grass. ^_^ What would also be cool is making your own character,so giving them a hairstyle like your own and stuff.

Re: Pokémon Colosseum an rpg?

Hmm, I made a thread about this, but I didn't have any screen shots, I read about it in Nintendo Power like awhile ago, they also plan on releasing another game called Pokemon Channel, I think it's sorta like Hey You Pikachu, and it has the legendary Pokemon Jararchi ( that's a new Pokemon by the way there is another one but I'm not sure of it) in it. But what nintendo said about the game Colloseum, is it's going to be a "senario based aventure mode", aww well I'm looking forword to it, I think the site say it was going to be relesed in America in March.

Re: Pokémon Colosseum an rpg?

well, all pokemon games were rpgs, but the nintendo 64 couldn't have supported the graphics they wanted with the rpg gameplay, so they left it as a fighting game

Re: Pokémon Colosseum an rpg?

The game isn't totally an RPG. Part of it is though. It's been given more darker overtones to relate to the older pokemon gamers ('bout time too). The RPG elemnts are how you would obtain the Metallic (GSC) pokemon and trade them to RS or future FR/LG. You play a trainer who has to battle evil trainers who have 'dark' pokemon. Dark in teh sense of evil, not the attack type. You basically steal back these dark pokemon, then you have to raise their hapiness levels until they learn moves properly. Until that point they only know 1 dark attack which does super recoil damage.

Colleseum still has the aspects of Pokemon Stadium 1&2 (or 1,2&3 if your Japanese), such as the tournement battles, and the pokemon storage machines.

Re: Pokémon Colosseum an rpg?

The "darker" idea sounds good. I assume it will be a bit more like Majora's Mask in that sense. However, I'd wish that they'd improve the graphics. The environements, while decent, are bland, and the character models are severely lacking. This game screams for cel-shading, but I don't think it'll get it.

did anyone notice that it had the letters RPG at the top of the page? I wonder what that could mean...

Re: Pokémon Colosseum an rpg?

The graphics and places look HORRIBLE. Are you sure it isn't PS2 pictures? ()

And I'm surprised they didn't make some online Pokemon game instead.
