Pokémon Glitches
Everyone who has ever played Pokemon knows about the Great and Evil Missingno. Some people know about his (truly) evil cousin, 'M or M block. I would like to know about all of the other glitches, why they occur, and the evidence of why they occur. Please post.

Re: Pokémon Glitches
You can catch mew in the original games. And, it's not some stupid myth, either. I've tried it. Heh, so you don't have to go to a nintendo event after all...
In order to catch mew, you must never battle the kid with the slowpoke near the pokemaniac's house. After that, you head out of the underground walkway, and a bald guy will see you. Press start right when he looks at you, and use a pidgey to fly to the city near the pokemaniac. Get out and fight the kid with the slowpoke. Go to lavendar town and take left out of the town. Your menu will pop up, exit out. Then you fight Mew. That is the way to catch Mew. I've done it before in my Blue version. I don't think it works with yellow, though... I'd have to try it. I hope that this is considered a 'glitch'. It's the only unusual thing, other than Missingno, that I know about. Last edited by Andross; 07-27-2006 at 09:12 PM. |

Re: Pokémon Glitches
Yea, as far as I know, there aren't a lot of glitches in the Pokemon games. The main one is the mysterious Missingno. About if you talk to the man in Viridian City, tell him to show you how to catch a pokemon, then fly to Cinnibar Island and surf up and down the right side untill you run into Missingno, then run from the battle. Whatever item is in the,umm....I think it's 6th posistion in your bag, you'll gain somewhere close to unlimited.
But, do not catch missingno, it'll really f-up your game. You'll begin to lose items, pokemon, pokemon will start to be missing body parts and will be replaced by others. Some freaky junk really, sort of like a virus. I'm speaking from first-hand experience with that on my Blue version. So, yea, cool trick, but be careful. -NC

Re: Pokémon Glitches
There's this one glitch I read about called Glitch City. It's this glitch that happens when Blue or Red version doesn't use the right map and you go to this extremely odd city. You can surf on land there and walk on water.

And you CAN catch Missingno., but you can't withdraw her from your computer, or your game will **** up, so you have to have a spot in your party open. At level 1, Missingno. evolves to Kangaskhan. Best part about this is that Missingno. learns Cut and Fly, while Kangaskhan learns Surf and Strength, so you can cover almost every HM with just one pokemon!

Re: Pokémon Glitches
Well, I just decided that it was appropriate to post a site, just so that I have some evidence. I don't want it to look like I discovered this myself. Although, I learned this on a different site long ago...
http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/rbcatchmew.html I don't think it will mess up your game, either... It didn't do it to me. |

Re: Pokémon Glitches
I know of an easy was to get rare Pokemon from the Safari Zone. Note: this only works on Red an Blue.. Wander around until you find the Pokemon you're after, and if you don't catch it, get out of the grass and walk around until your time runs out. Fly to Cinnibar Island and Surf up and down the dark bit on the right-hand side of the island until you're attacked. It should be the last Pokemon you encountered in the Safari Zone, but with the advantage of letting you fight it this time. This makes them much easier to get.
Don't quote me on this, but I think this works with the Legendaries as well. I haven't tried it, but if you fight Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres or Mewtwo then Dig/Escape Rope out and Fly to Cinnibar, you should (in theory) be able to fight them again. And again. And again.

Re: Pokémon Glitches
I've seen the way how everyone else got their mew, but I did it a different way, along the same lines, but its faster and you get 2 mews. Follow the other glitch, and I'm guessing you can get 3 mews.
These are the two ways I got my mew... There is an alternate way to get mew a lot faster in R/B. You can get it as soon as you get to Cerulean City. First, you have to catch an Abra. Like before, battle all trainers EXCEPT the one with the slowpoke, AND the one just to the left of the Nugget Bridge in the grass. Then, make sure you have been to the Cerulean Pokemon Centre before. Next, like before, walk a few steps in front of the trainer in the grass, then press start quickly before he battles you. Then go to Abra and use teleport. You should be infront of the Cerulean Pokemon Centre. Your start button shouldn't be working. Now, go to the trainer with the slowpoke and defeat him. Your start button should now work. Now teleport back to Cerulean. Go to Nugget Brudge. The first step you take should bring up the main menu. Press B and you will encounter Mew. Catch an Abra north of Cerulean City and put Abra in the Party and head back north of Cerulean. Don't battle the trainer on the other side of the lake/river from the nugget bridge. Save the game at the upper-left corner of the lake and step one tile area and quickly press the start button to make start menu to appear. Select Abra from the Pokemon menu and teleport back to the Cerulean City Pokemon Center. The trainer will show a punctuation mark before teleporting. Go inside the Cerulean GYM and battle the swimmer near the entrance. Defeat the trainer and head out of the GYM and head north to see the menu pop up. Press B and a wild Mew will appear. http://www.trsrockin.com/mewtrick.html

Re: Pokémon Glitches
I heard that it has to do with HEXAdecimal codes, is this true? And is that why Gameshark codes are always in HEXAdecimal?

I think, if you toy around with the AR to much, eventually in leaf green you can catch a pokemon that is kinda like a black and white target with A "?" in the middle of it. I have one actually, but I can't use it in battle.

Re: Pokémon Glitches
I meant when I messed with my Action Replay, what I suppose what was supposed to be a onyx (I was training on Victory road) was a "?" Target thing, like in the pokedex. But it was catchable, I got it with a master ball.
