Pokemon Battle Revolution

http://www.cubed3.com/news/5349
Now I'm not really into these Stadiun/Colloseum games but if this turns out to be a 3D RPG a la the gameboy games I'll buy it. Especially if it has MMORPG online like play. Oh, and the graphics are awesome.

Re: Pokemon Battle Revolution

Hell yeah they're awesome! Sweet! Hopefully, the RPG (if there is one) will be better, though, but this is still pretty awesome.

Also, it has been announced the D/P will have voice-chat.

I hope there is a special mode on the ds or wii version for like a mmorpg (or something like that) that would be the roxors...

Re: Pokemon Battle Revolution

Looks interesting. I wish there were more screens, though. From what that one screen shows, the graphics arnt anything special, but they arn't bad either. As far as an MMO goes, I seriously doubt there will be a first party Nintendo MMO for a while, since it seems Nintendo is very timid about online play and all its complications. I see an online mode where one could be pared up with another gamer of similar experince for a battle or trade, or even (but hopefully not) the friend code system used for DS games sesion much more likey than a full out MMORPG. Of course, if this were to be an MMO, Pokemon Battle Revolution would be the first Pokemon game I'd buy in a long time; Pokemon is perfect for MMO! Just... don't get you're hopes up.

EDIT: After reading the topic entitled "Wii Messenger" I have changed my opinion on the likely outcome of the online section of this game. It seems Nintendo is being a lot more open ended with the online apllication of the Wii than recent interviews and history has lead me to believe. I now see a Pokemon MMO very possibly something we may see soon!

Re: Pokemon Battle Revolution

Pokemon as an MMO RPG WOULD rock. Just think about it the possibilities.

And it sucks, because there hasn't been a true 3D pokemon RPG yet. Stadium was pointless and...bad, and Colliseum was a stripped down version of the gameboy games.

I haven't played XD, nor do I want to.

It looks great, but I'm confused as to how it will utilize the Wii controller. If at all.

Has anything been said regarding this?

That does look amazing. Pokemon MMORPG. Good idea... It'll be interesting to see if it works, though.

Very nice find, my friend. This is one pokemon game that I may very well pick up. I've heard that this will be the first DS game that will interact with the Wii via Wifi (no shock here). And as for that part about Voice-Chat, does anybody think that the player may be able to call out his/her commands? It's quite possible. With the voice controls they are using for the latest Mario Party game and Odama, there's no telling what the game will have in store (of course the player can have the option of turning it off).

Though possible, the only problem that may come is this: There are soo many attacks. Can a Wii disk hold up all that information? And I'm sure our technology is superb that the computer won't mix up "Water Spout" and "Water Sport".

As for the environment being distructable, I wonder...will that effect the battle in any way (feild boost/advantage. I'm sorta thinking like Yu-gi-oh here. If the battle takes place in the City, Electric and Steel type pokemon will some sort of percentage advantage), or is it just for looks?

And who can say "Finally, the pokemon get to actually hit eachother instead of 'hitting them' a foot away"

Re: Pokemon Battle Revolution

Well what'ya know, if it isn't another Pokemon game. I'm surprised to see such an early revealing of "Pokemon Wii". Could this be the game that heals the Pokemon franchise, or are we dealing with just another bland battle game?

Everyone knows Pokemon rocked. Don't deny it, we all enjoyed the countless hours curled up on a couch playing Gameboy. Sure, those days were fun, but it seems like the newer Pokemon generation has been lacking. Lately all we've been getting are simple "upgraded" versions and quirky puzzle games. Where is the new and improved Pokemon RPG that I've been waiting for since Gold/Silver? When I say new and improved I don't mean an additional 100 Pokemon; that's not what we need.

The video was kind of cool, I'll admit, but I have this strange feeling that we've got another Pokemon Stadium game on our hands. Battle, battle, battle, that's all it is. Sure, the graphics are slick, but I want more than just a revamped Pokemon Stadium. If this game were to turn into a MMORPG than I would be forced to buy it. At this point I'll pass, but if this game turns out to be the true Pokemon game I've been waiting for, then maybe I'll give it a chance.

An Online Pokemon RPG = <3

Re: Pokemon Battle Revolution

ive been wanting a pokemon MMO since the day i learned what an MMO was. that and for the 3D games physical attacks to actually hit the other. not just a nudge and sudden pain with no contact. as for the control useage i have no idea. i spent an entire busride trying to think of ways it could be used but the result was a resounding 0.

You know what...I honestly don't think the Wii-mote will be used (to it's full compacity) for a Pokemon Stadium game (if that is exactly what this is). The control system we used for the Gameboy games, are pretty much the same thing we used for Stadium and Collosium (when it comes to battling). All you esentially need is a D-pad and two buttons. Place the Wii-mote horizontally, and there you have it.

Now if this game is going to be a MMO game (where you could use your Pokemon and their powers outside of battle), then the Wii-mote will have plenty of uses.

Only thing I can think to do with this is the "Cut" HM. And maybe as a pointer on the map for "Fly" or something. But I seriously can't figure out what the Wiimote would do.

I think they should just stick to the GCN controller for this particular game.

Yeah I agree with you and know what you're talking about.

I mean theres nothing really that the Wiimote could do I mean maybe it could be used for surfing. Maybe in time we will know.
