Last week, sheriff's deputies conducting an investigation into the murder of a 55-year-old Louisiana man seized a number of games rated M for Mature from the home of a 16-year-old suspect, according to a report in the Baton Rouge paper The Advocate. The action was taken at the suggestion of controversial Florida attorney Jack Thompson.

Thompson told The Advocate that he suggested the sheriffs look for violent games in the youth's house because he felt the killings mirrored a scenario from Grand Theft Auto. The original reports indicated that the victim was beaten to death and shot in the face by the 16-year-old and a 17-year-old accomplice.

"Nobody shoots anybody in the face unless you're a hit man or a video gamer," Thompson told the paper.

While the police did seize the games, it's unclear exactly what role they will play in the investigation. West Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Captain Spence Dilworth told the paper, "I think it goes beyond video games, but who's to say?"

Wow, just shows you how retarded scrapgoating and bigotry can get? "Nobody shoots anybody in the face unless you're a hit man or a video gamer"? Yeah! I guess the Marines, the U.S. Army, the Armed Forces, the police are violent gamers who just shoot anyone in the face. Way to dishonnor those who protect your freedom to say that crap.

The sickening thing about all of this, is Thomson couldn't give two *****s about the victim or his/her family, but only the advancement of his one man anti-video game crusade.

Here's the problem, people will listen to this drivel and believe it. Jack Thomson is an arrogant, self-serving, ignorant ambulance chaser. His campaign is helping no one and worst of all deviates from any rational line of motivation when it comes to someone being murdered.

Jack Thompson also dismissed claims that the boy had serious psychological disorders, distant parents who where not fit to raise him and would of probably killed any way because he couldn't very well get publicity by claiming that could he.

It's almost as if he's endorsing video games. I mean, the more he shouts and points, the less and less credible he's becoming and the stronger the counter-argument in favour (violent or otherwise) becomes.

Video game websites enjoy posting Jack Thompson news. It gives them something to complain about. I think he's a massive moron, but I definitely don't think that nine year-olds should be buying games like Manhunt and Grand Theft Auto. If anyone deserves blame, it's retailers for not routinely checking IDs and parents for being dumb enough to buy their young children graphic games.

I'm absolutely against censorship, but I'm a strong advocate of common sense.

I don't care if Jack Thompson continues to whine about games. I don't care if he continues to fight against games. I don't care if Thompson wants to become a disappointing example of the human race. I don't care if he's going to make a fool of himself on the media.

All I know is that he's never going to win with his time-wasting, resource-consuming campaign. And the fact that people continue to pay attention only makes him stronger. He just wants attention, that's all. He's just some guy that likes fame, however negatively that has become.

Or maybe, he has some terrible childhood with video games. Things like this can spark psychological instability in a person like him.

That is the funniest quote of the year. Because we all know that Video gamers leave their own symbol of "shot in face" Also no vital organs are in one's head, nope.

I just found out today that my uncle allows my eight year-old cousin to play Halo.

I'm no Jack Thompson, but I find that a bit disturbing. Granted, there's a very small chance my cousin will ever become a murderer (though sometimes I wonder), but I still feel that it's definitely not a game appropriate for an eight year-old.

If any good comes out of this fiasco, it's hopefully that naive parents will wake up and realize that buying M rated games for young children is not a very smart thing to do.

I was watching Friday the 13th movies and became a fan of Scarface at that age.

I'll let my kids play violent games. But it is your job as a parent to teach them right or wrong regardless of what they see.

To be honest, I agree with Jack Thompson on some things. But this is going overboard. To say only a gamer or a hit-man would shoot in the face is somewhat "out there." The face is like 2-3% of the human skin surface, out of 100 shootings, a blind man would be likely to strike there at least once.

Hey, this is Jack Thompson is talking about here. Anything is possible. And I don't mean in a way you can get out of a fantasy video game, though. They give you bad examples of what magical wands can do.
