Zero Mission help.

Yeah, I'm a couple years late.

I just picked up a copy and I'm having trouble with Kraid. Hitting him before he knocked the platform down was easy enough, but now I can't get a single shot on without falling off the tiny ledge, getting hit by those tiny nail things, or having my shots blocked by his claw.

I looked it up on GameFAQs but nothing there has been much help. Anyone have a good strategy?

Re: Zero Mission help.

Has he destroyed the little ledge that's out away from the wall yet? Once that happens you have to stand on the top...um...clawed arm thing that comes out of his stomach. There are three stages to the battle: First you have the whole big ledge to yourself, then you have a tiny ledge, and finally you have no ledge. The second stage is definitely the hardest. The only strategy I can advise is speed. Fire multiple missiles into his mouth with each jump, and don't go out of your way to avoid the little nails. Just try your hardest to stay on the ledge. Hopefully you have a decent amount of energy tanks.

Honestly, I couldn't help you. I've never really had any problems with any iteration of Kraid before.

Just keep yourself up, and keep on blasting him. Perhaps you need another Energy Tank or two?

Re: Zero Mission help.

Eh, I did it. Definitely needed more speed! I was stuck on the "tiny ledge" part, and I was doing it way too slow -- jump, R-button, fire, fire again. I'd get one hit on him and then get knocked off by the nails, and then a claw would slam into me. I decided to just fire multiple missiles like crazy and he went down really fast. Way easier than I thought...I was just too slow!

Right now I'm in the Tourian area, fighting the Metroids. This is pretty fun stuff. I haven't played the original in over ten years, but this seems to be a pretty good take on it. I love the cutscenes.

Anywho, thanks for the tips.

I'm on Mother Brain

The turrets, rings, blasts AND lava are throwing me way off. Either the turrets knock me into the lava, or the rings do, or Mother Brain's blast hits me while I'm trying to get a shot at the eyeball. There's so much going on that I can't seem to stay alive.

Any good strategies?

Sorry about this, but I'm sucking.

EDIT: Nevermind, got it. How'd I forget about super missiles!?

And, it's still going! WOW! Sorry, I'm just a little excited. This game's incredible.

Hehe, yes...I hate Mother Brain. It's so darn difficult when you play it set on hard.

Good luck with the real final boss, though I have to say I didn't have as much trouble with it as with Mother Brain. You do have to have reasonably good aim, but at least you're not being attacked from every direction.

Re: Zero Mission help.

The last boss was very easy. He died before I even realised it. I was a little surprised.

Overall, I really enjoyed it. Very nice update of the original, and that extra bit at the end was a welcome challenge. A tad annoying at times, but I enjoyed it.

It got me in a Metroid mood. I'm playing Return of Samus right now. I kind of wish it had a map feature.

Re: Zero Mission help.

Return of Samus is the Game Boy one, right?

I only have Zero Mission and Fusion. Both are great. If you don't have Fusion, you should get it. It's for GBA and has pretty much the same graphics and control as Zero Mission, with a few minor differences. You can't do the infinite ball jumps or wall jumps in Fusion, but you can in Zero Mission.

Fusion has more of a storyline, and it may feel kind of restricting at times, but I still like it.

I guess a new thread should be made for discussion.
