Sonic On The Wii (E3 Info)

I was reading this article on Ign, i found this part quite interesting:

Quote:
All it takes is a few seconds of play time and the changes to Sonic's core gameplay can easily be seen. For starters, the control has been completely stripped, replacing the original analog execution with tilt control. Players control Sonic by simply tilting the Wii-mote (held in the classic NES position) left or right. Rather than positioning the game as yet another free-roaming adventure, each level instead acts as a rollercoaster of sorts, sending Sonic on a pre-determined path, while giving the player full control over movement and speed. Since the path is already set, players use the tilt function to navigate the track, grabbing items and fighting enemies at their own pace. It may sound basic, but that's what brings the series back to its original form, as it controls like the 2D version did, while still providing a 3D feel.
It seems like Sonic will be great on the Wii.

I also recomend to look at the videos and pictures. The graphics really do look great, i think the Wii just might look as good (in game) as the PS3.

I can assure you that that isn't the case. The Wii's case isn't big enough to hold anything that can rival the PS3's processing power, it's GPU may be slightly better, but I wouldn't even count on that. Coupled with the fact that Nintendo has said many times that it will be graphically inferior, and that it will cost 1/4 to 1/3 of the price of the PS3...

Yeah, you right, but at least the graphics wont be crappy like the X-Box 360's.

I still think controlling Sonic and Mario and all of the characters with the Wii controller will be weird, i mean tilting it to move Sonic seems hard. They all keep saying that it will be eays and feel great but, im not so sure.

Re: Sonic On The Wii (E3 Info)

why is it that when sonic runs, his feet are barely moving but he is going super fast... that looks ridiculous, they should be a blur or somthing that looks more accurate, the genesis games even had that

The 360 will also have far better hardware then the Wii, why? Because in order for the Wii to cost less then the 360 it's hardware has to be inferior.

Mario: Controlled with the analogue stick/buttons, only one move controlled by the Wiimote and/or Nunchuck

Sonic: It sounds like a good idea to me, I mean, how many times have you been playing, say, a racing game, and have tilted the controller when going around a turn? It's the same as that, only tilting the controller will cause you to turn.

It's still a fairly natural motion and shouldn't take long to get used to. If, you know, you had to flip it three times to turn left, I could see it being a problem.

I don't like the idea of it being on the Wii. It will be way to hard to controll Sonic.

Have you read the previews? Sonic essentially runs 'on rails', on a set course, which he can't deviate from. Within this area you can move him side to side by tilting the controller. Apparently it handles amazingly well, with both IGN and Gamespot calling it the first 3D Sonic game to be done 'right'.

But if the the controller were to have rumble feature it could feel disturbing, and corrupt gameplay a little bit.

Re: Sonic On The Wii (E3 Info)

Man.. Sega's control schemes with the Sonic games are getting worse and worse.

I used to love Sonic, but after playing some of his games on the Cube, I've grown to detest the series. It's far too easy, far too childish, and overall the control schemes are just plain horrible...

Again, both IGN and Gamespot, who gave the 3D Sonic's mediocre reviews, have called this one amazing, intuitive, and "3D Sonic done right".

No offense but I'm not going to risk it for the Wii I'm getting it for the 360. I'm also not getting it for the PS3 because of the same reason for the Wii. I'm sorry but when it comes to Sonic I am going with my incsticed.

Re: Sonic On The Wii (E3 Info)

This honestly looks amazing. I was wondering how Sonic would be controlled on the Wii, and now I know. The idea of Sonic on rails makes a lot of sense, which can also bring back the sense of speed that the 2-D games had, that the more recent 3-Ds don't capture as well.

Here's the original thread: Sonic Wildfire. I figure someone with 494 posts would know how to search.

I could care less... I've outgrown Sonic anyway. I miss the days where they were 2D side-scrollers on the Sega. Now they're some crappy platformer games that all you ever do is go straight forward and run up some lood-de-loops over & over again that kills brain cells because of the constant spinning

I remember SA2 Battle... it was crap. SA Directors Cut was crap... Shadow the Hedgehog was the worst though. The level designs are just too linear, and honestly, the camera control for all of these games are just sickening...

Re: Sonic On The Wii (E3 Info)

It's been described as essentially a 2D sonic game, with a camera that you can rotate.
