I am happy that Sega is finally starting to be a little bit more involved in the video game industry (I haven’t seen too many games from them lately). It will be interesting to see what new ideas and video games they make. Hopefully they won't over use their mascot (Sonic) too much again. Maybe they will make a Revolution title? I'd like to see what ideas come up in the Rev. department. Sega defiantly needs to start getting some new ideas for games. Hopefully they will, but only time will tell.

Will they become as big as they were in the Genesis era? Maybe?

Re: Sega back in the game?

Oh, the Genesis era... truly a golden time for us Sonic fans.

I don't think Sega's been hiding too much: They've had quite a few releases this last year (albeit, none of them were that great, but hopefully things will change.) As far as over-using Sonic... well, I don't mind, as long as they fix him on consoles. The Sonic Advances were great, and I wouldn't mind seeing a second installment to Sonic Rush. Plus, Monky Ball Adventure looks like it's shaping up nicely.

Sega left the game?

No, seriously, Sega has been ranting lately about the company being pushed into a bold new direction. The romur of Yuji Naka leaving sonic team supports this. (Dear god, I hope that rumor is true.)

Just like nintendo did with Mario, but the only difference is that all the Sonic games were good

Re: Sega back in the game?

Hey! I happened to enjoy Sonic Battle. The Sonic games that I loathe are Sonic Heroes and Shadow (which, admittedly, I haven't played, but it uses the Heroes engine, so eff that.) If Sonic Team would just make a new 3D Sonic game, all speed-based levels, using the SA2 engine, I'd be in heaven. Bring back chao, too. I love those little bastards. Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing Sonic Shuffle for the DS. I've been craving a good party game on there, and if a Mario Party game isn't coming out any time soon, I'll settle for the Shuffle. Actually, I think I heard about a Crash Bandicoot party game somewhere... huh.
As far as Yuji leaving Sonic Team... well, I hope he doesn't. He's made some great games (Sonic 3, NiGHTS, anyone?), plus with a rumor in Famitsu about a new NiGHTS game in the works for Revolution, I can't think of anybody I'd rather have work on it.

Ah, ok, so you want Sonic Shuffle AND a good party game to be on the DS?

....wait a second, you liked Sonic shuffle? (I've been in a joking mood lately.)

Alright, all jokes aside:

Th majority of the fans tend to agree: Yuji needs to go. The popular opinion is that he's turned the franchise into an empty shell of it's former self devoid of any quality games. I'm one of those fans that agree that S&K was the last high quality game in the series.

Afterwards came crap like Sonic 3D blast, Sonic R and Sonic the fighters.

I wanted to get enjoyment out of the adventure games, but things such as bad game types (Knuckles stages) and countless design flaws and bugs pretty much ruined that. Sa1 and 2 have to be the buggiest platformers I've ever played. If only I had a nickle for everytime I fell through a stage, had to stop and readujst the camera and missed a dead on homing attack.

And I think I have to be the only person who hated the idea of chao. They took forever to level up and there wasn't much required to do so. Bring them drives, pet them, repeat 50,000 times. And the most unrewarding part is that....all of them turned out to be the same persona wise anyway. They were just different skins.

I'll admit though. I had a blast with the Sonic/shadow stages. But even those weren't as good as they could've been.

So other than that, what has Yuji brought to the series? Sonic battle? As a harcore fighting game player, let me explain to you why I found it horrible:

The characters were hilariously unbalanced. There was no dodge and no real effective way to land up close hits, so characters with wide attacks range and speed owned everyone else. (Amy)

And Shadow was the fastest character in the game....and also had the third highest offensive power? What? But I can't say I suprised to see the game suck seeing as Sonic Team has no fighting game experience whatsoever.

And don't worry, if Yuji leaves Sonic team, legally he has to take NiGHTs with him. Seeing as he was the creater of NiGHTS.

The Chao garden was repetive, but addicting.

My take on Sonic well I didn't think it was great. Somme of the Sonic things realeased latley has been crap Sonic Riders where the hell did that come from.
I'd rather play Sonic Heroes. I thought the Knuckes levels in SA2 were freakin boring.
It made not want to play it.

Hopefully the Remake of Sonic Hedgehog will show what a good game Sonic really is.
It will proabaly bring back some of the originality and potential that Sonic has.
And will be very flawless seing as how it's going too be in the next gen.

I want a Skies of Arcadia 2. That would make me worship Sega.

Re: Sega back in the game?

A new skies game would be good.

Ok, I admit that I didn't like the Sonic Battle multiplayer very much, but I thought the single player was good, and the customizable Emerl was a pretty neat idea. Yes, I liked Sonic Shuffle (it was online... remember that?), and I'm sure if they put it on DS it would use the Wi-fi connection. I'd also like to see some new Phantasy Star games on Nintendo consoles. PSU looks like it's shaping up pretty well, at least.

As far as Naka goes... he's been there forever. I think that the recent Sonic games haven't been as good as they should have, but it's not like he's completely lacking talent. He was there for S3&K, too, you know. And lately he's done things like Feel The Magic, which I think is waaay underrated.

Hm.. I wouldn't mind seeing a Feel The Magic title for Revo.

Re: Sega back in the game?

Wonko agrees with me! Skies was an rpg that totally deserved its own franchise, but didn't get it. I really want to know what happend to the heros, and which one ended up with Vyse.

I'm with you on that one, I loved Skies of Arcadia...man it's been awhile though. It was a really unique game with the air pirates and whatnot.

Re: Sega back in the game?

I'd like them to make a new console.

SEGA had to issues, kinda "whoring out" sonic.
Not as much as Capcom does with MegaMan, but..... (Also sorry I offended anyone
by the captioned text)
And WAAAAY too many sports games.....
My oppinion anyway, also I WOULD LOVE a new NiGHTS game.

I've been re-living the days of GENESIS with my Emulated games on PSP.
So fun!
