Re: The 'Resident Evil' Thread
I have played them all except Code Veronica. My fave would have to be 4 of course, because of the gameplay, graphics. and plot. I love how your able to atack people if you shoot them and run up to them an hit "A". But the scariest moment for me was in the remake for RE1 for the gamecube. The crimson heads are the freaking worst. There is this one hallway with like 2 or 3 of them and the camera angle in that hallway is the worst so they come out of nowere all the time. "BAM" and your hit. lol. But that is what also makes my love the game series so much. The challenge, and the uncertainty of what is going to happen keeps me hooked. As for RE5? Well i hope that the plot of the game is good and has a few twists in it. Maybe see Umbrella rise from the grave.

Re: The 'Resident Evil' Thread
the remake was pretty damn good and scary. i really liked code veronica alot though. had alot of different locals and those new enemies with the one giant arm were tough because they could hit you from the other side of the room and could pull themselves across the room with their arm.

Re: The 'Resident Evil' Thread
That game blew my mind the first time I played it. But I wouldn't call it the best. The replay value was just god awful and the difficulty settings were unbalnced as hell. What sense did to make for you to start off WITHOUT the normal mode and only have the hard and easy modes?
I think they just went a little overboard with the later difficulty settings. The enmies got harder to kill and the ammo got harder to find. Plus, the mansions layout made running away from enemies extremly hard. These flaws pretty much made the unlockables not worth it: To this day I still never unlocked the anti-tank rifle or the samurai edge simply because I wasn't having fun with the process. Replayability was the one thing I felt REmake didn't do better than other games in the franchise. Especailly when compared to Re2, CV and RE4 (all of which had staggering replay value). If not for that, it would most likely be my most favorite RE game. But, you have to play the hell out of the game to see it's flaws. And I played the hell out of the RE remake, because it was fantastic.

I didn't find it too hard even on the harder difficulties, it only got hard the firsdt time I played it on the zombie Forest mode becuase he would just come out of no where and if you shot him its game over. |

Re: The 'Resident Evil' Thread
I wouldn't have had a problem with that design choice if the enemies were easy to run by in Re1. (like in the other games) The tight level design makes running past enemies (which was pretty much your only option, usually) way too risky, I felt.
In Re2, the game got harder, but the ammo wasn't any harder to find.

Re: The 'Resident Evil' Thread
It IS risky, if you run at just the wrong angle, or if you go to fast or w/e, you can find yourself taking some heavy damage. Take William Birkin. If you run at the wrong side, you're gonna be torn to shreds in a matter of seconds. Or even if you run by a zombie when he's facing you, but you just happen to be a millimeter too close, and those bites can add up.
Running around some enemies in RE2 was pretty challenging, and it's much worse in the REmake.

Re: The 'Resident Evil' Thread
While #4 is my favorite #2 is next in line. I've been playing Resident Evil DS. The touch screen mode is kinda fun.

Re: The 'Resident Evil' Thread
I damn well love the RE series. Why do you think I have it in my sig and avy? The only games I haven't played in the series are Code: Veronica, Gaiden, and many of the other spinoff titles for the PSX and PS2. I don't really have an excuse for RE:CV, but the others I hear aren't that great anyway, so I don't feel like it's worth my time. My order of favorites is: 1) RE4 2) RE: Rebirth 3) RE2 tied with RE3 4) RE Zero However, none of these games did I particularly not enjoy. I loved every one of them. RE4 was probably one of the greatest gaming experiences I've ever had, especially for the survival-horror genre. It had depth, plenty of gore, a decent story, gorgeous visuals, and a good scare-factor. And all this is not to mention the absolutely perfect difficulty of the game. It's so well balanced, as normal enemies are easy enough, but they come in batches from the well-designed environments. Tougher enemies are a nice treat as well. I pretty much feel the same way about the Rebirth as well. I mean, WOW. The game's rendered backgrounds are amazingly detailed, and the game's scare factor transcends even RE4 on many levels. The feeling of isolation is just awesome. Really, as much as I enjoyed the original RE, the Rebirth outclassed it on every level, and that's quite commendable. By the way, playing on Mountain climbing with Chris is also a WOW experience, just because you're so limited that it increases the feeling of isolation within the Spencer Mansion. And to add to that, you now have to deal with CRIMSON HEADS. I love it. RE2 and RE3 come right near each other on the list. The grounds for this are that the games are very close in design. However, as overall games they do a good job to distinguish themselves. RE2 was more like the original, in that it kept you in a building, and made you use keys to open doors. It retained classic gameplay style with the use of zombies as the main scare factor, but also implemented the use of a "desperate" feeling atmosphere. RE3 was unique in that it gave an outdoor-centralized atmosphere, and it had non other than N |
