Fifa games getting dissapointing.
I remember the first Fifa games...Loved the graphics, controls and gameplay..But ever since 2003 the games for me keep getting dissapointing..The usual controls change the graphics start to really suck bad!A really good example is Fifa 06..To me that is the biggest dissapointment..I'd prefer the graphics on Fifa 96 compared to the graphics given to me in 06.The controls also changed alot so I have to configure it all the time..Why would they change it if most people switch to controls they were used to?The gameplays also gone really shoddy..The info is really hard to see and alot of important stuff like throw ins are weird..instead of aiming you choose the character to throw it to and press s...No more devising strategies and no more simple passing, you have to hold down on the pass button to detirmine power...I don't want to hassle through that...
Any other dissapointments??Or disagreements? fifa 06-http://www.playingzone.com/images/je..._prev_sc10.jpg fifa 98- ![]() You might think im crazy I prefer 98 to 06 but its not about graphics its how the games played and I prefer the gameplay of 98 to 06...My favourite game would have to be fifa 2002.. |

Re: Fifa games getting dissapointing.
ya I agree. In my opinion I think FIFA 2001 is the best FIFA. The grapihcs were good, the gameplay was very good, I was addicted to it untill my CD was broken 1 year ago. I could make my own character and team, overall it was the best FIFA. But after that, all the FIFA's have worst camera's, the controls are to difficult.

Re: Fifa games getting dissapointing.
So none of you at all enjoyed the actually REALISTIC Fifas? (04,05,06)
Fifa games have not gotten disappointing, they've improved themselves with every release each year. Every game brought something new to the table, as well as refined the predecessor's improvement. Let's take a look at the important Fifa improvements through the years: ![]() FIFA International Soccer (GEN) First Fifa Game (to my knowledge). ![]() Fifa Soccer 64 First 3d Fifa Game (to my knowledge). ![]() Fifa 99 Let's skip ahead to Fifa 99. Four years after Fifa 95, a fifa was produced with tons of teams, leagues, gameplay options, etc. Probably one of their most valued Fifas to date. ![]() FIFA 2000 Widely regarded as one of the best Fifas out there, with stunning graphics, fluent movement, more tricks and thrills than ever before. It was also around these years that Online Play began to make an appearance. ![]() Fifa 2002/World Cup The appearances of cross/lob gauges, powering up shots, early ball-spin manuevers. ![]() Fifa 2004 Ball physics changed the entire game. The ability to deke through the entire team was removed. It was time for skill to actually matter. Off the Ball Control introduced. You no longer can slide tackle the keeper. ![]() Fifa 2005 Finally...some tricks that are useful. On the ball skill moves introduced. First touch controls were vastly improved. ![]() Fifa 2006/Road to the World Cup Much better graphics, new commentary (So long Motson!), more precise free kick setups, and short pass corners (what took so long EA?). ![]() Fifa 2006: World Cup Hopefully it'll have as much surprises as the tournament coming this summer. I don't see how '06 could be disappointing. It was awesome. And I can't wait to check out F06:World Cup this summer.

Re: Fifa games getting dissapointing.
Whoa...your playing this on computer aren't you?
Yeah, I remember the days when WASD was important. But W to E isn't that big of a change. And you can change the camera to different angles; to whatever you want. I don't think Fifa is getting worse. Fifa 06 won Sports Game of the Year recently, so there sure was quality in that game. I really can't see where your disappointment is coming from.

Really Fifa won??I don't see why Pro Evo didn't win or Street Soccer..I find those way more enjoyable, even if they are on my mobile lol.

Re: Fifa games getting dissapointing.
Fifa hasnt been good since '95 or something (mega drive/snes i think), I dont get why anyone would want to pay £40 on the same game every year but with updated teams and graphics, thats why I tend to leave sports titles alone, I prefere the real thing.
dark_link93, by posting them pics you've proved nothing but they look prettier as the years go on. |

Re: Fifa games getting dissapointing.
When were FIFA games any good in the first place? They've all been clunky and frantically horrible gameplay experiences. EA take more pride in the official licensing. The last two FIFA games I played were FIFA 64 and FIFA 98, and they were both terrible.
ISS and Pro Evo are by far the superior games. If you can see past how pointless the license is in the grand scale of things. ~ Adhamh. |

Re: Fifa games getting dissapointing.
I preferred FIFA 2002 to all Fifa's because of team creations and player creations. I thought FIFA 2006 would bring the creation option back and enable you to create your own flags but now they add even more complicated stuff into the game. I do hand the best graphics of a soccer game to the FIFA series, never let me down in the area of graphics but most important to me is to have character and team creations in the game like FIFA 2002 did, where you could give all your players name and name your own team (even though it took me 2 hours to make all 20 players for a specific team, I still enjoyed it.)
FIFA 2005 also caught my attention but I gave it up because it didn't catch me like FIFA 2002 did. I view FIFA 2006 same as 2005 except with tweaked graphics. And FIFA STREET was abysmal, the only street game I thought pwned all street based sports game was all the NBA Street Games. NFL Street, FIFA Street, etc all sucked to me. Even Super Mario Strikers Demo were better than all the street games. Now I'm waiting for FIFA 2007 which I presume will also abandon the creation option but I'll keep on waiting anyway even if it forces me to wait till FIFA 2060!

I wrote each major improvement per game, or at least the ones I recall. The pics were just to differentiate the games. I was proving that the mechanics have gotten better throughout the years. Though I have to agree, I don't think video games are yet to capture the true "fun" of soccer, and until they do, we'll always have that feeling that something is missing. Speaking of good soccer games of the past, who remembers the NES games: ![]() Goal! ![]() World Cup ![]() Soccer Classix.

Re: Fifa games getting dissapointing.
Dont forget Sensible Soccer.
The greatest footy game ever. Still a firm favourite of mine. Might even dig out the old Atari for another league triumph with Blackburn.I now remember I had a little fiddle with the new "manager" aspect of FIFA (2005 if I remember rightly). Seemed like a big pointless filler. ~ Adhamh. |
