First Nintendo Revolution Screens!
Quote:
I'm still trying to let the images soak in, if Rev can run that with the rumoured specs then I am truly impressed with what that little baby can pull off.

Re: First Nintendo Revolution Screens!
Nice, very cool to get some screens of a game for Revolution. The graphics seem really good but with those pictures I cant tell how great they are. I cant wait to see how the Zelda and Mario games are going to work out on this platform.

Re: First Nintendo Revolution Screens!
Ooh, Ubisoft, you've surprised us. I wasn't expecting what seems to be a 'gang-fighting' game when you guys said a "Doom" clone
If those screens are real, then for Revo's specs, those are very nice graphics. If that's what we'll be seeing a lot of in the next generation, I'll be very pleased. |

Re: First Nintendo Revolution Screens!
Nintendo also stated that they would only be going upto progressive scan and if I can get those kinds of visuals out of a 480p/i TV then I have to say...Nintendo was right, high defintion really isn't that impressive.
Edit: I'd also like to mention that there have been people saying that they have found proof that this will be a launch title for Rev.

Re: First Nintendo Revolution Screens!
See what low expectations can do? If Nintendo had continually boasted about the graphical might of this console, then we'd all be massively disappointed with these screenshots. Since they were smart and kept expectations low, we are pleasantly surprised. Keep this in mind, ye who believe Twilight Princess cannot fail, for the opposite is also true.
I'm impressed with these shots. They are better than I would have imagined. I'm not positive, but I'd say this is almost up to 360 quality. I would expect the 360/PS3 to pull away as developers tap into their full power, but you never know. Definitely not the embarassement I expected. And how about the game itself? A gritty, mature, third party FPS on a Nintendo console? Just what the doctor ordered. If it is a commercial success, you can expect others to follow suit. So, as long as it doesn't flat out suck (and I honestly wouldn't count on it), please buy! |

Re: First Nintendo Revolution Screens!
Well, Nintendo did say that we will say wow, with all the rumoured specs no one was expectin to say wow but damn...wow. Compared to the stuff people were expecting earliar, this blows everything right out of the water. Casuals are impressed with it so it's a good sign for Nintendo (yes, I'm so giddy with the screens I've already shown it to a couple of casuals) depending on how this game goes, it may very well be my launch title purchase. Ofcourse right now all we have to go on are graphics and a few bar scenes.

Re: First Nintendo Revolution Screens!
Alright. Let's back up here to what we know.
1. No idea if that is really real time. 2. The Revolution is a extension of the Gamecube's structure. And as Nintendo has stated, the Revolution will have lower specs than the other systems. The thing is though, that the Gamecube can turn out graphics much better than what the clock time and other hardware factor numbers indicate. The same should be then expected out of the Revolution; While the Revolution has lower hardware numbers, it can still perform on par with the graphics of the next generation of gaming, except with a little less power, and a low resolution. 3. (And this is the big point): Non-HD resolutions STILL, no matter how many STILL screens you have seen, cannot compare to High Definition resolutions. Don't let some low quality magazine scans tell you otherwise. Unless you have full experience between the difference of HD, Progressive, and Standard resolutions, you can't really mold your opinion. Other than that, I am pretty impressed! Those visuals are great! It's still a bum that there isn't HD, but I've learned to live with Progressive Scan all this generation, so I'll manage to get buy with the Revolution. Though I wouldn't mind if Nintendo made it a rule like Microsoft did for HD that all games are required to run in Progressive Scan or widescreen, at least (since it doesn't require more processing power for widescreen). I got sooooo sick this generation of looking at stretched out images, and grainy 3rd party games on the Gamecube not having Progressive Scan (because pretty much only Nintendo titles did). (IE: Tales of Symphonia looked TERRIBLE. I had to sit farther away from the screen to make the grainies blend. 480p would have knocked that problem rate off.)

Re: First Nintendo Revolution Screens!
Good stuff. Sounds like Red Steel will be utilizing some interesting ideas. One hit stealth kills sound fun. And actually seeing the way that the player is holding the gun in that screenshot made me realize how amazing this controller will be for FPSs. A normal controller simply cannot compare to it in this genre. It will feel like holding a real gun --right down to the ability to rotate it. And intuitively rolling grenades? Awesome. I can't wait to try.
The concern with the controller obviously rests with third person games. Camera control could become an issue. But first person games will be ace, period. Nintendo thought this one through. Where are they struggling? America. What is popular in America? FPS. I seriously think this controller puts a dent in Microsoft's strategy, since Xbox was the king of FPSs. Halo might be a lot less appealing when compared to the stuff we could be seeing on Revolution, based on the control alone. It all depends on the actual games and the execution. I really want to see Metroid Prime 3. No more lock on! |

Re: First Nintendo Revolution Screens!
The cross-hair wannabe thing makes me assume that the screens being shown are in real time. I've seen the difference between standard and High defintion many times before and it really can make one helluv a difference but right now, I'm not worried about motion, I'm just glad that we finally have some visuals, even if they are stills to go by on.

Re: First Nintendo Revolution Screens!
Not bad graphics at all, I knew they wouldn't be a let down. This game sounds cool, just being able to turn the gun is tight. I'm really getting excited about the Revolution now, if this is real.
I believe it, and I'm pretty cautious about these kind of things. Come E3, If there's more of this kind of stuff I think people and gonna be very excited. I know I will.

Re: First Nintendo Revolution Screens!
I can't wait for the politicians and parents to start jumping up and down screaming that the Revolution controller is training their children how to shoot guns.
Then again, Nintendo is [supposedly] putting a parental control on the Revolution so parents can keep their ten-year-olds from playing M games and so on, but that's dependant on the parents, again. I'm stoked about how it looks, though. It may not measure up to the other consoles, but it's still pretty darn good... and the whole HD thing bores me. I won't have an HD TV for years, so it's neither here nor there with me. If the game can look that good on a normal TV, I'm happy. It means I don't have to pay extra money for HD just so I can get what I'm supposed to get already. |
