Re: Video Game Music/Remixes

Gerudo Interlude is secondary to Gerudo Peeples in my opinion. That whole little stretch from 1:30 to 2:something is really annoying after a while. Gerudo Peeples just has a higher quality value that I enjoy more.

SoS is good, not for the fact that it's the song of storms (that certainly helps), but the fact that it has high quality and it was put together well.

Recently there has been one song I could NOT get out of my head ever since I heard the original. Torvus bog, MP2. I beleive it is a mix off of red brinstar. Ever since I got into VG music, I downloaded tons of songs and blistered my eardrums listening to them. So I had lots and lots of songs stuck in my head, and sometimes I can't match the tune to the theme. This is one of those scenarios, I've heard Torvus Bog in a mix somewhere, and I'm telling myself it's Red Brinstar, so for now that's what it is. Can anyone confirm. The tune is heard in Zebesian Midnight by Vigilante, at about 00:55. Definitely Torvus, and it sounds great. I noticed the exact same thing in the game itself (it made me get lost in the music and I wasn't snapped out of the trance untill Alpha Blogg rammed me into a wall).

All The World in One Girl and it's original counterpart are very much opposites, but they seem to sound the same. One Girl is very moody, and gives you a lonely desolate feeling, while All the World gives you happy bouncy feeling. I like them both, and I have acquired a taste more for All the World in One Girl, but when I listen to the other, I feel the same way for it. It's very pecuiliar.

I definitely wouldn't say it has a higher quality. Maybe you prefer the slower tempo, but the incessant pounding throughout the song gets old. I compared the two without bias. The instant I heard Gerudo Interlude, I knew it was the better of the two.

I liked SoS in the beginning, but cannot stand it now.

When Vgmix comes back, download "Torvus Clockwork" by Darksworde. Or you could just go to his site. The song, a combination of Torvus Bog and Red Brinstar, doesn't reach great heights, yet it has made it on almost all of my CDs for one reason or another. You'll love it if you like Torvus Bog.

Yeah. That was the intention I think. I can't emphasize enough--that organ in ATWIOG (figure it out) makes the song. I love it.

One great thing about both (and most of the Wingless' work) is that repetition is almost totally avoided. His songs are dynamic, changing throughout.

Samus, you should check out "Final Exam" on the Wingless' site. Best Brinstar remix ever, easily. Not at all like his other work, he teams up with Vigilante in a mix that trades electric guitar for his usual piano stuff.

Re: Video Game Music/Remixes

Oh yeah, I'm big on video game music remixes of all kinds, and have been for years now. I occasionally stop my VG Mix to see what they have, but mostly if I want to hear anything I'll go to OC Remix. I used to always listen to the stream of remixes they have going at the branch of OC Remix called Ormgas. Come to think of it, I'm also an avid member of the Ormgas community. (or, I used to be.)

Actually, I think Anthem of a Misguided youth pwnz them both. I do prefer Peeples to Interlude, though.

Re: Video Game Music/Remixes

I listened to both "All the World" and "One Girl", in that order. I liked One Girl better, even though it was hard to pick out the original theme.

Final Exam is definitely my favorite remix from Wingless.

Re: Video Game Music/Remixes

Just started playing Chrono trigger, great game. My favourite tune so far is the Middle ages overworld theme.
Heres my favourite versions.

600 AD in piano - I respect piano solos since I know how hard it is to play great songs.

Through the dark - The cathedral theme is the main song in this and it manages to make a nice mix between slow and fast tempo. One of my favourite remixes

Downwind - The first minute is steangely quite, but it builds up to a great fast, loud version of the song. Don't know the second song in this mix but its a nice contrast.

Rhodes to the past - This has a RnB feel to it. Beautiful version of the song.

Re: Video Game Music/Remixes

So I was just thinking about the songs that I would most like to have remixed. You know, songs that, if I knew how to remix, or if the artists would actually take requests, would get my immediate attention.

-Lava theme (DKC2)
-Sanctuary Fortress (MP2)
-Nightmare Battle (Fusion)
-Anything from Pikmin OR Pokemon (I could see envision some very nice Poketechno)
-Anything from Golden Sun (it is a love it or hate it series, but the awesome soundtrack seems to be shunned for some inexplicable reason).
-Clocktown (MM)

The following need much better remixes

-Jungle Brinstar (SM)
-Lower Norfair (SM)
-Deku Palace (MM)
-Stone Tower Temple (MM)

Well, in reality, I have many more as well. My list will become far too extensive if I don't cut it out now.

Re: Video Game Music/Remixes

^I second all those (well except for GS, as I have never played the game).

A few I would like to add:
-Pianta Village from Super Mario Sunshine, I requested this song on OCR's forums, there is a forum specifically for requests. Last I logged in I remember getting a PM from the person saying he would remix it, however, I forgot my password and the email I set on that account no longer works.

-Clocktown (restated for emphasis)

-Jungle Brinstar. I don't beleive there is a mix of it. All three of the mixes I heard of it had no trace whatsoever of the original theme. The closest one too it was the one by Prophecy (On top of Jacob's Ladder, from VGmix), and that only had a highly deviated almost unrecognizable little entry at the beginning of the song.

-A new WW beginning story theme. The Ancient Hero by Darkesword was a great mix but I don't like his choice of instruments. It's a great song and I love listening to it, don't get me wrong. But after a long time hearing it (it'll be a year this summer of having it on my computer), I'm just no longer reminded of the original theme. When I heard the original theme from WW itself it was so much grander, more captivating, more moody, and more intense. It made me feel like I was in ancient hyrule, the music alone did that. DarkeSwords version no longer comes close. It doesn't even feature violin. Too strong on the piano and too heavily reliant on the first little melody. Now I just listen to it for the enjoyance it provides. I want to hear the theme from WW.

-The flute salad of a song on the WW 'Press Start' screen. That song is so beautiful. The most fitting song to the environment. It was perfect. I'd like to see a remix. WW and Metroid Prime series have a drought of songs. I want to see some sort of project for either game. Both VGmix and OCR have done projects on the DKC series, it seems popular. I want to see something similar for WW and MP.

I don't want to discuss the Gerudo Theme anymore. I've come to the conclusion that it is solely opinion and nobody can have a wrong opinion. I don't like Interlude as much as Peeples because I believe that Peeples has better instrument choice, and better quality. Nothing you say or do will make me favor Interlude, and nothing I say or do will make you favor Peeples. It's a matter of opinion, lets drop it. And we all agree on ATWIOG and OGIATW.

Well. You seem to be an expert at finding VG music, I was wondering if you could find the music from brinstar depths from SSB:M

Re: Video Game Music/Remixes

Do you want a faithful rendition or a remix?

Regardless, either put it in Google, or check out one of these 3 sites:

Vgmusic
Ocremix
Vgmix (Currently down)

I'll see if I can find you the exact song.

Edit

Here you go. All the music from the Smash Bros Symphony. I got that CD in Nintendo Power a few years ago. Pretty good stuff.

Have you heard Walking on the Stone Tower by irriadin? (It was on vgmix.) It doesn't deviate much from the original theme, but it's still a great remix.

I don't have a list of songs I'd like remixed, but here are a few off the top of my head:

- Link's Awakening Credits
- Ganondorf Battle Theme (OoT)
- Oath to Order (MM)
- Triforce Theme (TWW)

It'd be nice if there'd be more unique remixes, rather than endless Zelda's Lullaby, Zelda Theme, and Gerudo Theme remixes.

There was a remix of that theme called Hero by Revolver. Unfortunately, it was also on vgmix. (When will that site be back?!) It opened with ocean waves and seagull calls, and then a music box-type instrumental version of the Ancient Hyrule theme played, and eventually a flute takes over.

Sheik and Samus, I could try to send you WotST and Hero via email if you'd like to hear them.

I don't quite exactly understand what you're saying? That original song in the game was a remix? Or DarkeSword's remix was yet a remix of Revolver's remix?

This is it! Thank you that's exaclty what I want to here! That's amazing... I love that song. What more can I say?

And I totally forgot the Windfish theme. The two remixes I have... suck. No other way to put it. The Sad Fish and Windfish Enigma. They're horrible and get the wrong message. The Sad Fish is a total contradiction of it's name with that loopy disgusting little dilsplay happiness near the end. There needs to be actual good remixes of the theme with no crappy displays of what you can do with a music program.

My email is linkdude27@comcast.net

Hm. Vgmix hasn't been up in a LONG time, but I do remember listening to it and not being impressed at all. And I love the original track. It may be the most epic sounding song in the Zelda series outside of the Darkworld from ALTTP.

I'll definitely give it another listen when/if Vgmix returns.

No, Hero is just another remix of the original song in the game.

There are several remixes of the Windfish theme I like, but I still haven't heard one that completely satisfies me. My favorite one is It's My Turn to Dream (and it's at ocremix), although it's a dance remix. I have a rendition of the LA credits, Looking Toward the Island of Dreams, by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra on my computer (I forget where I found it). It's good, but not quite how I'd like that theme to be. Those songs are amazing and very majestic in the game, and I'd like to hear a better quality rendition of them that captures that precise spirit.
