Nintendo has acquired 2.7 percent shares pf Bandai. This makes Ninty one of the top ten holders of the stock, it is believed to be a first step, with more to come.

I think that Nintendo has absoulutely no reason to make a Hard Drive based storage medium, especially considering the fact that they are soon going to realese the SD memory card adapter.

As for the the Bandai thing, i doubt it will be anything besides a big title clinching, not anything like a buyout.

Everyone's citing anonymous Japanese tabloids on the Nintendo/Bandai thing, at least with regard to Nintendo buying Bandai out. Personally I'd be more inclined to trust Nintendo's own spokespeople, and the fact that it seems to be a simple act of picking up quickly dumped stock.

Regarding the harddrive, from the GamerFeed link...

According to the rumor, which is located in the rumor column of Game Labo, the device will not be a typical storage device you would expect, such as a hard-drive. Instead, the rumor suggests that Nintendo is actually planning a storage medium that will be based around removable disks, much like a Zip Disk. It is said each disk will hold 40 GB.

The rumor is further supported by the recent statement by Nintendo's president in which he claims that Nintendo has prepared a new product that will be surprising and unique, which will be announced this spring.

Call me dumb, but how is 40 gig removable storage "surprising and unique"? And could someone point me to Nintendo's apparent acknowledgement of storage hindering sports titles? I'd think it'd come down to.... y'know.... contested licenses, more than anything.

Apparently it's open season on "NINTENDO WILL MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT NEXT E3! WE ARE FORTUNE TELLERS!" stories.

Wow, it would be pretty good if Nintendo made one of those. More space, and I could just rip out the harddrive, and get 80GB of harddrive space for my computer.
