Talking Nintendo's new big secret.

Has anybody heard about what Nintendo is planning. The president of Nintendo says that they are planning on revealing something in spring of 2003 that will change the gaming industry as we know it and that it's something totally new. I can't remember what magazine I read this out of (that helps alot). They won't even say if its hardware or software. So, share your thoughts on this & don't send ninjas after me if someone has already posted a thread about this. -hudles in corner-

Do you mean spring 2004, or are you referring to the idiotic rumor-campaign that was "Megaton"? If the latter, I'm afraid I'm obligated to start bludgeoning...

I seem to recall hearing news mention along these lines. However, "spring 2004" is long enough off that it's such a "duh" issue. Of course Nintendo'll be showing off something big and new in the next nine months. After all, it's not long before they need to fully revamp the Gameboy, to meet the slowly growing competition in the portable market, and get it out before the Gamecube's successor.

Re: Nintendo's new big secret.

I don't believe they are planning any new systems or anything, they are doing pretty good with GBA and GCN if they do make a new system that sure screws all the fans who bough a gamecube.

Re: Nintendo's new big secret.

Yeah, I'm still in the process of buying my GCN (don't ask) so I would hate it if they stopped making games as soon as they made a new console, IMO there isn't that many *good* games on the GCN anyway.

Nintendo wants to get their console out earlier to beat Sony and Microsoft, hopefully learning from their mistakes last time.

Re: Nintendo's new big secret.

It is true...there is supposed to be some big announcement in this coming spring. Not that I have a link either

Then again, E3 is generally around that time anyways, isn't it?

Re: Nintendo's new big secret.

It could be anything, from an add on the a system or an online peripheral for GBA's like a cellphone that would be cool...You'd be able to play people all over the world, it'd be like online play but more simpler with a GBA.

Re: Nintendo's new big secret.

I hope it is a 2D style Mario game (Super Mario 128), or a 3D version of A Link to the Past, or or...

But, anyways, this surprise better be big, because I am looking forward to it.

Re: Nintendo's new big secret.

If they make a 3d version of anything it should be LoZ. Sort of like they are doing with the original Metal Gear remaking it 3D for Gamecube its called Twin Snakes.

Re: Nintendo's new big secret.

We all know what this means, isnt it obvious? Nintendo plans to take over the world with mario cup holders. Its all part of their maniacal plans. Seriously? They'll probably reveal some information about a successor console, maybe a big partnership or somehting of the like. That is if it happens at all.

Re: Nintendo's new big secret.

It's been confirmed that they are going to show off something new in Spring 2004. Nobody really knows what it is yet, but most are speculating that it's their new handheld system, possibly with lots of new features, like PC linking, or something.

I'll say this, it better be ground breaking. Let's face it, gamecube is screwed unless they get something that catches people's attention.

Re: Nintendo's new big secret.

Gamecube is screwed anyways. Nintendo can't hope to take back the number 1 spot during THIS generation.

Re: Nintendo's new big secret.

Yea, its pretty sad. Nintendo is the one that tries to be inovative with their stuff and what happens? The other systems take the ideas and they do better.

Re: Nintendo's new big secret.

The fake statements of how about GC is a child console, etc etc...

These are nothing but immature statements, and it has decreased Nintendos popularity alot.
All the GameSpy junkies prefer Xbox, all the RPG and anime freaks prefer PS2, and us with Nintendo, I guess we are the one mostly being fanboys, but not all of us.

I do it only for Zelda, when Zelda is gone from Nintendo, so am I.

And PS2 commercials are ALL OVER this planet. In football matches, basketball matches, conserts, etc, you find a logo 'PS2 - The Third Place' or similar.
Microsoft... Well, I do know alot of stupid friends who enjoy crappy games, like many those on Xbox that got low rates. They seem to enjoy them, and they directly without doubt love the Xbox. Just like that. We GC players get more, and we're not satisfied.

I don't see GC commercials or ads, and people say it is for children.

Xbox players = Easy satisfied
PS2 players = they have found their dream, roleplaying and deep games with a good story
GC players = good games in small amounts - I rarely find good games for the GC, but hey, I'm known for being hard to satisfy.
