PSP (coming in 2004)

The PSP is a portabal game console made by Sony. Its graphics are going to supposedly be as good as the Ps1. I was wondering who has heard of it.

Re: PSP (coming in 2004)

Yeah, I think I can safely say that most of us have heard of it. I'm undecided as to whether it'll be any decent at this moment because I haven't really looked into it but as far as I've heard it'll be able to run a few PS2 games as well. This doesn't exactely mean that it's graphics will be as good as a PS2's rather that they just upped the processor to compansate for the tiny graphics. The games sepcific on this handheld console will probably be like most other sony games; good at first but largely unpolished and repetitive.

Remember, I know almost nothing about the PSP and all of that^^ is just speculation. Gonna, be better than the N-Gauge of course.

Re: PSP (coming in 2004)

The Graphics are actually going to be a bit better then ps1. There going to be between ps and ps2. Atleast thats what the guy gamespot interviewed said. And its not going to be able to play ps2 games. They use 2 different disc. It will probaly interact with ps2 games though. Kinda liek the GBA and GCN.

Ohh I c, so do you mean that they will different discs to the Playstation and Playstation 2 or that they will be able to play Playstation discs but not Playstation 2?

Does anybody have a link to a pic of what it might look like?

I think it will do good, because Sony tend to know how to sell and attract people. Many people love RPGs (for some strange reason) and cannot live without them, so they grab one as soon as they hear it's RPG, and actually enjoys it.

The RPG-humanoids... Strange people are they, but the success of the PSP will they be... Yes.

AS much as they "say" it will/can do, I believe the GBA will still kick ass. Alot of the stuff doesnt even seem possible. But since it is a new gaming thing I will most likley buy it, or maybe not. Depends on if it is any good or if it does what it says.

OK, one it's official name is now "PSX". It is not made specifaclly as a gameing console and isn't being made by the same division that makes PSone and PS2 s. It will not have games specifically made for it either. It has to differant size hardware availible. THe smaller runs at $720 U.S. If you confert from Yen. The bigger runs at about $900. It is a good deal actually for all the stuff it includes. (tv memory, mp3, 24x DVD burner, DVD Player, CD Player, PS2 and etc.) It was showed off in Japan and IGN and probably Gamespot too have info on it. Thats all for now.

Here, this is what you are thinking of:

There are two 160GB and 250 GB. They are home entertainment centers that happen to play PS2 games, that is just one more reason to get one over another thing, or so they wantyou to think. it probbly only works in fullness with a Vaio and a Sony entertainment router. And would look like crap unless you have a quasi futureistic setup in your home already. THe site for the PSX can be found here, that site also has links to much of the PS developement teams' items.

The PSP on the other hand is a portable touted as having the same capabilities as a PS2. I can't see it being al it is cracked up to be between heat and baterylife issues. Only time will tell.

Re: PSP (coming in 2004)

Yeah, the PSX is COMPLETELY different from the PSP.

And the "strange reason" we like RPGs is because we prefer our games to have depth, rather than just be fun, but shallow.

Re: PSP (coming in 2004)

... geez, people, it isn't going to be THE PS2 on the go, or the PSX on the go, it's basically going to be what the GBA is to the GCN. It won't be able to play PSX discs, because those are way too big. Sony has their own minidiscs, about the size of a GCN disk or smaller, that can hold craploads of memory (1.8 GB, this opposed to the 1.5 on a GCN disk). If Sony can pull away developers from the GBA (and if anyone can do it, it's Sony), this system will be a major success.

And IRuleHyrule, FF7 was the greatest PSX game.

Re: PSP (coming in 2004)

Heh, I agree with Jenova. And I'm worried about PSP, after all, Sony has relationships with a lotta good company's (square, capcom) that I could see going to PSP. I just hope it isn't that big of a challenge, and they don't get all the exclusive games...

Re: PSP (coming in 2004)

Jenova pretty much said wat i was gonan say but yea its not going to be a ps1 or ps2. You wont be able to play any ps1 or ps2 games on it. Its going to have its own games just like GBA. Its probaly gonna get alot of ports of ps1 games though.
