Info on Revolution

Post anything Revo related in here, weither its rumours or fact

What we know
The console will be out prior to Thanksgiving.

The controller will an all-new freehand-style unit, which can be made more conventional via shells.

When picked up and pointed at the screen, the controller gives a lightning-quick element of interaction; sensing motion, depth, positioning and targeting dictated by movement of the controller itself. The controller also allows for a variety of expansions, including a "nunchuk" style analogue unit offering the enhanced gameplay control hard-core gamers demand.

The controller has another secret, but nobody knows what that is yet.

It will be a "Virtual Console" and will have the ability to download old NES, Snes and N64 games, along with play Gamecube games.

Sega are also interested in this aspect.

It has a self loading disk feeder (Okay, not overly sure what its called...)

The Nintendo DS will connect to it.

It will have WiFi connection.

The current console prototype is about the size of 3 DVD cases stacked together, though they claim this will be even smaller by launch day.

It will accept GC controllers and memory cards

It has 512MB of expandable internal flash memory

It will run the Unreal Engine 3 [NEW]

Re: Info on Revolution

Unreal Engine 3 is also unconfirmed. I'd actually wouldn't bet anything on that rumor, personally.

Edit- also, you've got an eclectic mix of developers and publishers in your "developers" category. It's a bit confusing.

Re: Info on Revolution

When I saw that video befor e3 I think I was actualy afraid of the revolution and it's amazing power. Then when I saw the real thing I felt like a moron. Well there is not any new info besides that really. Just know a few games in production like super smash brothers. The next one. This should become an official thread since I don't see any other official looking revo theads.

http://www.crossbeamstudios.com/

They are supposedly trying to get something up for the Revolution, with Orb and Thorn (the latter of which kind of interests me.) They're some what confirmed, but they don't appear to have Dev. Kits nor a Publisher. They seem to be self-confirmed. Though, they do seem over-ambitous, not quite sure if they'll get anywhere, or even get Dev-Kits. Maybe pile?

NOTE: Link is for confirmation purposes, not plugging.

Re: Info on Revolution

Man, for a sec I was like WTF! I don't want that, that actually looks pretty stupid, the design, I mean how would you play it in the car? Also, if you take a step forward and you do in the game, wouldn't you run out of space? Nah, that was amazing video, just the system sucked. I like the real revo, its going to rule. i'm happy to see some of the developers on that list, Nintendo is always lacking in 3rd party support, I'm very happy to see SSB as a launch, that's going to be crazy with wifi. And the DS with it will be so totally awsome, I can just imagine *drools*.

I'm pretty sure in Nintendo's revoltuion controller unvailing keynote presentation, they said that the gamecube dev kits will work very nicely, maybe with some added scripting for the conroller or something. Who knows, maybe the controller isn't that hard to script w/o seeing it?

Although the head thing does look like it would be cool it just wouldn't work. Think about it one moment your blasting away enimies in Metroid Prime, then your on the floor because you ran full speed into a wall. I like the real Revolution anyways.

Re: Info on Revolution

There is a rumor going around that Nintendo copyrighted a Virtual Reality Helmet.

If this is true, virtual reality would work well with the motion controller.

It's probably not a recommendation to do so however. Even if that is not the case, Cross Beam Studios would have to buy some 'cube Dev-kits to get their project started. These kits may not be all that cheap either, though, I'm not exactly sure what the price is, they'd end up paying bundles for two development kits, one of which, they'll probably never use again. It's not like they're going to have a launch title out anytime soon. It's probably a better move finicially to wait for dev kits.

There's been something going around saying IGN are confirming Battalion Wars 2. Though, I sill put that to question without the source, regardless of how trustworthy they may be. A note on that actually: If anybody actually has something that proves it's official, I'd love to see it. I haven't been able to find it yet, but I probably haven't done enough crawling.

I'm pretty sure that they meant that GameCube and Revolution were nearly identical, graphics-API wise. Of course the inputs are different, but these days, almost all of porting work is just switching over the graphics code. GC and Rev using the same basic API ensures that games planned for, or even out on GC can be easily rewritten for Rev.

Starcraft: Ghost on Rev, anyone? The only reason they canned the GCN version was lack of online support, which the Revolution most certainly has.

Re: Info on Revolution

Even though there are rumors about this helmet wouldn't you think it's just a remake of the virtual boy wich was unsucesful by the way. So I wouldn't count on it one bit.

Re: Info on Revolution

Revolution Dev kits only cost $2000 compared to the DS's $2500.
Granted these kits are basically gamecubes with a wired Rev conroller attached, still it gives the developers something to work with.
Rev is gonna be so good. Online Smash Bros. I'm not the best smash fighter but c'mon online... YEH!

Re: Info on Revolution

Guys, check this link out: http://www.crossbeamstudios.com/projects.shtml It's some company (who apparently has bought one of the kits, since it's mega cheap...and that was Nin's Plan) that's making three games for the Rev'. They give us a sneak peak with art drawings and story plot of what the games will be about for two of them, I'm waiting for the third, and if this info is true. Any takers?

Re: Info on Revolution

I just dislike the fact how Nintendo always keeps their fans in the dark, especially when the next generation consoles are going to be a big hit. One thing that I don't like is the idea of the same old franchise being used again and again. I mean, I have no problem if they use Mario again for Nintendo Revolution, but God, please, give us some fresh new gameplay.

Super Smash Bro. 64 and Super Smash Bro. Melee have nearly identical gameplay with some minor modifications and arena designs. Super Mario Kart SNES is quite similar to Super Mario Kart 64 which is also quite similar to Super Mario Kart: Double Dash. The only differences between these three are: graphic, minor update to gameplay (seriously, they all feel the same), and minor update to characters.

I need something new, innovative.

All I car about is that nintendo survives up against Microsoft (sony is no longer a threat). I don't care about new inovations as long as there is always going to be new zelda games coming out.

No, Microsoft is no longer a threat. Sony will do anything in their pwoer to pwn nintendo.

Im actually happy to see that capcom are going to develop on it. Lots more third parties will be great, considering the lack of it on gamecube.

Well they only do that so they won't dissapoint there fans, I mean saying all these things then dissapoint the consumer by discovering so and such this game system doesn't have that function. All I'm trying to say is they don't want to lie about there product something along those lines.
