Anybody ever played Harvest Moon???

I love the Harvest Moon series up to the N64 version. It is way more than you would expect from a farming game. Its hard to explain but something about this game is just so much fun!

I would like to hear from other Harvest Moon fans, That is, if there is any.

Yeah, I've played a number of them from the series, kinda like... Sims, if that's a good game to describe it like. Only, in a farming way.

Re: Anybody ever played Harvest Moon???

It's so rewarding until you cheat. Lots of the daily tasks are tedious, but again, they are pretty rewarding except in the prior case. I love the whole idea of a farming sim, coupled with social life and making a fortune, etc. The whole feel of the game is definitely a plus for me. It's not for everyone though. And for some, it won't be fun until you haven't played it in a long time. I fit into one of those guys. Good game.

I like the N64 version, what a great time waster.

The GC version... I don't know what it was, but it just didn't swing with me.

Yeah, that happend to me, I played the N64 one and really liked it. I bought the GC one and it did suck. It didn't have festivals for one thing, which it should of.
I sold it though, last week, I didn't play it. And I'm older now so I won't be buying anymore Harvest Moon games.

Re: Anybody ever played Harvest Moon???

I've only played three of them. Friends of Mineral Town (GBA) Save the homeland (PS2) and Wonderful Life (GC) Save the Homeland was the suckiest one i've ever played. As soon as you complete your mission you have to start all over again with no-one knowing who you are. Wonderful Life one is addicting but gets boring kinda fast. Friends of Mineral Town has festivals and competitions like Horse racing and Frisbee tournament with your dog. It's the best i've played so far. I've been wanting to get the girl one. I have the boy one. From what i hear it's not too different at all.

Re: Anybody ever played Harvest Moon???

I liked it, but found it got boring after a while. The GC's days were too long, and the SNES's days were too short. I never played the N64 one...

Re: Anybody ever played Harvest Moon???

I loved the N64 version.. The GC versions were ok because they were different but they weren't as entertaining (too long days and no festivals). I have the PS2 Save the Homeland version and it was fun but there aren't festivals or marriages or anything similar to the N64 version but I liked the fact that you can get a different type of horse or dog. I like the GBA games they are addicting like the N64 game was.

Re: Anybody ever played Harvest Moon???

I never played the N64 version, but I like the Gamecube, PS2, and GBA ones. They are so much fun when you have nothing better to do! ^^ Maybe I should buy the N64 one.... If it is better than the Gamecube one anyway.

Re: Anybody ever played Harvest Moon???

I'm a huge fan of the series, the first one I played was the N64 version, which is the best one by the way, I was so into it I found my self looking for stuff online for the game, trying to figure out how to see all the cutscenes, boy I still really love that game, in fact if I still had my N64 I would play it again right now. The version the made for the Playstaion 1, is kinda of like the one for 64 but it has so much more stuff, I love this one as well. I've also played the one called "save the homeland" for PS2 but it was garbage, then I bought the one for GC and i thought it was alright but I preffer the other ones fos PS n N64. Now I'm thinking of getting the special edition of "A Wonderful Life" for PS2, it seem pretty cool, but shhhhhhhhh.....don't tell nobody, I'm almost 20 and it might ruin my reputation. Harvest Moon is one of those games that you love but you don't tell everyone that you do, I know a lot of people who like the game probably feel the same. so anyways the game is awesome, PM if you want to talk more about it.

There is no special edition. It was a rumor and nothing else.

Anyway, at one point, I owned all the games, but most of them were broken or sold. The ones I have now are:

HM64
HMGB
HM:AWL

Kinda sad, isn't it?

Re: Anybody ever played Harvest Moon???

Oh yes I have...One of the worst games i've ever played in my opinion. There is just nothing to do in that game! It's so mindlessly un-creative. Sort of like Animal Crossing and the Sims! I saw no point in playing that game. It's only if you absoutly have nothing else to do...I really didn't like that game. I played the GBC one, didn't like it, only thing about it is I bought it for a buck...I wanted my dollar back after. I realized the hard way why my friend sold it to me for a dollar in the first place...

Re: Anybody ever played Harvest Moon???

I was introduced to the series through Harvest Moon 64, which I fell in love with almost immediately. I also own Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town for GBA and Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life for GCN. Mineral Town was just as good as HM64- actually, better, since they added Harvest Sprites helping you and the shopping channel and the ability to save whenever and wherever you wanted... however, the walking areas are way too large- they should have either shrunk the village down somewhat (Flower Bud Village from HM64 was an excellent size) or added more houses. A Wonderful Life... I just can't get into it. You're required to work the farm twice a day, there aren't enough people around to talk to, the community isn't much to speak of... Ironically, "A Wonderful Life" has less life in it than HM64 and Mineral Town.

I'm really hoping that Harvest Moon: Magical Melody delivers more than A Wonderful Life did, and I'm definitely looking forward to the DS release, though I can't find anything on that besides it being announced.
