Internet for only DS lite?

Opera (the web browser) has announced that their software is going to be released in the new Nintendo DS Lite, users in Japan will be able to surf the web with their Nintendo DS. With the stylus like PDA control, users will be able to surf the web with style. This is a real advancment in Nintendo DS Software, being able to connect to WiFi was great, now it has an actual browser to surf the web!.

i do not have a link for proof sorry, i got it off zelda forums and i think that its a load of crap if its only for DS lite,they should allow you to replace your DS for the new one if the web is only for DS lite.

It won't require a DS Lite.

None of Opera's own press regarding the release mentions the Lite at all. To quote their own press release, "Users simply insert the card into the Wi- Fi enabled Nintendo DS, connect to a network, and begin browsing on two screens." No other mention of requirements has been made.

I had heard about this before and read an article on slashdot. Apparantly it's just a cartridge that you can use on any model of DS. Here's the link to the article:

As the article says, they are only currently planning to have it released in Japan. If it ever comes out here in North America, I'm so there.

cool thanks that really helped alot, if it were only for ds lite that would be really gay...does any one know if we can play mmorpg online (such as runescape?) or will it only be for searching and browsing.

It's a web browser. It only has the purpose of browsing the web.

They are releasing 2 versions, 1 for the DS lite and 1 for the normal DS, the reason why is that the GBA slot on the Lite is smaller then the normal, normal GBA cartridges stick out 1 Cm, so they have made a new cart for the DS Lite for it to fit in the GBA slot.

...Which would make since...as much as I would be pissed off that I would need another DS Rumble Pak...which isn't sold seperately.

Oh crap I just remembered about my Rumble Pak, that truly does suck, although it did come with Metroid Pinball, I am not going to buy a new Metroid pinball if they release the new rumble pak for the lite, most likely with a new game, but still.

Holy crap! There's a rumble pak for the DS?!? I seriously had no idea.

You aren't missing out on much. Only Metroid Pinball and Mario and Luigi Partners in Time supports it...and it sound like a fricking motor boat every time it rumbles.

This sounds cool, I could go to ZU right from my DS, SWEETNESS! I do wonder, however, if ZU will have to make another version of the site for the DS.

no. The Opera web browser does not support Flash/Java... so thus you cannot play Runescape.

My family consists of 3 children (including me) and we only have 2 pcs so DS net will work well for us
