The "official" Silk Road Online Thread

If this become popular I'd suggest a sticky piece of gum be put.

Now down to business, I'm pretty sure but, not positive, about there not being a ZU clan for this game. If so then this thread can be editted later. Only answer the poll if you play this game.

*Skip this if you know about Silk Road Online*

Now to explain to everyone what this game is-

Silk Road Online is a Massivly Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game, that is FREE. What's amazing is how great it is and still be free, perhaps just as good or better than World of Warcraft, I kid you not. Here is an actual ingame picture.

More pictures here.

I'm almost certain all of those are ingame, though I am still somewhat low level so I haven't seen everything. Now the links and quote are entierly posted from penny-arcade, their guild is called the LongWangGang, their very nice so be nice back to them.

But this time, they've outdone themselves. Joymax entertainment brings us SILKROAD ONLINE, the best-looking free MMORPG... EVER. And fortunately, the gameplay lives up to the promise of the luscious visuals. It is reminiscent of the Bioware game Jade Empire, only without the hand-to-hand combat...or the $50 price tag.. Battle evil in Ancient China, with hundreds of character customizations, spells, PvP, a player-driven economy.....and Horseys!

Basicly in a sense the way you level up is like that of RuneScape BUT WAIT! Just because I mentioned RuneScape doesn't mean to close down the window right now, I know that most people here absolutly hate that game. Now, how it levels up is that you get points for your character, which you can add to either of two things, magic or health. More health means more strength and the like, while more magic means less cost paying on "spells". One other thing is that you can add seperate points into a group of many choices, weapon based and magic based.

First I should explain the weapons though, (mp for magic stronger and Str for stronger strength weapons. There are your fists (both?), swords (mp), scimitar kind of sword (str), those two can use shields. There are spears too (mp), and glavies which are big, big swords (str). Of course a bow too, (both?) this requires arrows of course though.

Now back to leveling, you can put points into weapons which make you stronger with the chosen weapon type, sword, spear, or bow. Also there is magic which consists of fire, which burns, duh. Ice can freeze for a few seconds and slow enemies, while lightning can completely stop enemies occasionally. Last one is called force, not like Star Wars Jedi. Force is your basic RPG healing type stuff, heal people, ressurect people, heal yourself. Stuff like that.

The reason I described it like RuneScape is only because of how open and easily choosible it is, allowing to make pretty much your own class.

Other features are jobs which I'll get to in just a sec. There's also mounts, such as horses and even camels, I kid not.

Now to jobs, there are three. Hunter, trader, Thieves.

Hunters kill Thieves while protecting merchants who move kind of slow but carry a very large amount of items to sell in a distant town. Thieves try and steal those goods. It's not as simple as it sounds, especially in a MASSIVE world, truly MASSIVE!

Now to useful guides for newcomers, also posted originally from penny-arcade-

Quests 1-20 are here.
Starting town map and NPC list right here.
Enemy list and general location for Jangan area over here.
Enemy list and general location for Donwhang area over here.
Map of another city, with NPC lists here.
Quests 20 and above right over here.

Here's a trader guide written by Aki of the LongWangGang, all credit to him of course.

However, I have recieved information from my brother about a certain spot that is lethal to traders! I have marked it on the trader route picture here-

It is the spot circled in black, seemingly dubbed gank mountain by many...

So there you have it, hopefully I'll get some positive feedback on this. I am Scoria on the Aege server.

Edit: Does no one play this game, or care?
