Nintendo practically runs Japan. Of course they're winning there. And I do belive you, but everyone else is going to want a source of some kind. Just edit it into the first post.

On a similar note, Microsoft practically runs the US, so that explains the success here, among other things.

Like Djinn said. Microsoft has almost no market hold over in Japan. You shouldn't be surprised about this.

Nintendo is Japan...Japan would be be Japan without Nintendo.
Not alot of people are keen on Microsoft over there...Thats why most likely the Gamecube is still selling more. Not to mection the short supplies of Xbox 360s and the crazy prices and the tiny game library. But give it time.

Re: GameCubes Out Selling Xbox 360's lol

Please take note that alot of japanese developers are going to support the Xbox 360:

Also take note that the Xbox did not have much japanese third party support. That's why it didn't do so well in Japan.

The only reason why the Xbox failed in japan= Gone. I expect the 360 to become a contender in asia.

At any rate, the fact that the GCN sold more than a console with hardware shortages is hardly what i'd call progress....well ok, it isn't progress at all.

Now will all the blind Nintendo praising stop please? It's kind of irritating.

The fact that the XBox 360 is coming so close to outselling the GameCube in Japan is actually kind of sad. Sad for Nintendo, that is.

Oh, the tables have turned. What now, Moriarty?

I wouldn't be suprised if the DreamCast was still outselling both.

^ I want your console to explode.

There's no telling who's going to win this console race right now. PS3 buyers might get stuck with a ludacris price and Rev buyers...

....might get stuck with something gimmicky and stupid.

I kinda get what you're saying here, but could you elaborate please? From the looks of things, I would think that a 4-year-old console should be doing worse than a new, powerful one.

Yeah, I get that Japan isn't Microsoft's primary market, but I'm still surprised that it isn't beating the Gamecube yet in sales, considering this past year's GC titles. In short, biased or not by sheer fanboyism, the sales in Japan still aren't that great.

Dude, shortages. Think about it. Nintendo has a console that's selling so bad that one with hardware shortages is right on thier heels.

Re: GameCubes Out Selling Xbox 360's lol

Uhm, if you're referring to total Gamecube sales since the day it was launched, I doubt the Xbox 360 is catching up with it its total sales. Of course, you must mean monthly sales (in this case, the one(s) for January) and that I can believe.

It's an old console with not much left to offer, what did you expect? I think the next generation of consoles should have been released by now. I can't actually believe that I bought a new Gamecube in 6th grade, now I'm not that far from 11th grade. To me, that is a disaster. It's like all the companies got lazy.

Re: GameCubes Out Selling Xbox 360's lol

I think the whole Japan vs. America thing comes down to the greater issues underpinning the the trade imbalance in the market.

The majority of the Japanese simply don't give a damn about American games, let alone consoles. Part of it is a matter of targeting (e.g. sports games heavily tuned to the North American market), part of is fundamentally different preferences (e.g. distaste for FPS titles), and part of it is preference for local products and suspicion of foreign ones. Nintendo faced all three entering the American market (especially the xenophobia), but had the luck of being the only game in town long enough to get a foothold. Even still they went so far as to change games to make them more market-friendly. Hence Super Mario Bros. 2.

It's a trend that isn't likely to change any time soon. The only way Microsoft might be able to make significant in-roads is if they rebrand under a native company... which isn't likely this century.

Actually, that's exactly what I expected. Take not that the PS2 is still doing really well.

Anf of course that's what I meant, give me more credit that that.

Re: GameCubes Out Selling Xbox 360's lol

Well, the consle race is truly up for grabs right now. ps3 will have the best gfx and system preformance, but for a price that most playstation fans seem willing enough to pay. Meanwhile nintendo is aimning for a price point under $200, and in some arcticles, under $150. Meanwhile the 360 is out, the glitches bately effected the selling, as microsoft promptly gave new systems back (with rush delivery included), what really is hurting them is their games. They are waiting hand and foot on Bungie for Halo 3, and Bungie is litterly ignoring them telling Microsoft they will be done when their done.

Halo3 is the only thing that is going to spark the xbox360 into the game. If Halo 3 sucks, Microsoft is screwed.

Meanwhile Nintendo is making a huge hype about the Rev., which seems great and all, but sometimes doens't seem that practicle, nor can it produce the gfx that I'm wanting to ee.

My sonopsis: PS3 is too expensive, 360 has one game, revolution is too different for a lot of people.

Who will win?

(Oh, and just so people don't go shooting me, the Revolution sometimes isn't practicle, ie., your in a car and want to play it, you can't be wavin a wand around in te car (which is primarely where I play video games)).

Now back on topic I'd say that Micrsoft is to the US as NIntendo is to Japan, even though Nintendo has a large market in the US, Mircosoft has bigger, and even though Microsoft has some market in Japan, Nintendo has bigger. And Sony has no home , poor sony.
