Banjo-Kazooie appreciation thread

Now that we are about to move to the next gen consoles lets do some remincising

I was wondering if i am the only one who misses the banjo series.

Imagine how much better the GC would have been if we had such titles as a Banjo threeie, perfect dark, A TRUE DK SEQUEl and conker. This generation truly missed 3rd party support.

Anyway tell me ur fav b-k moments as we remember the good old days.

I loved Banjo-Kazooie!I thought there would be a sequel to this, but it might as well be lost like Kid Icarus.I don't think it's coming back*sigh*
As for Conker, they sold themselves to Xbox now.they leave Nintendo and that's just sad for them. They should have stayed instead of just moving to the more powerful systems.(Xbox is by far the most powerful system in Guiness world records)What wimps!

Re: Banjo-Kazooie appreciation thread

I wouldn't buy a console just for one game.

Banjo Kazooie was awesome though. I remember flying around Treasure Trove Cove, landing on top of the lighthouse where I would admire the view down below then jump off the cliff into the water.

Or how about playing the organ in Mad Monster Mansion? I found the headstones quite funny when they would chase you around the graveyard.

And the quiz at the end was a nice touch, pretty easy in my opinion but still fun. Grunty has to be one of my favourite villains of all time, popping in randomly throughout the game with her rhymes. Good Stuff.

All the enemies were funny (carrots, cabbages etc) the rhymes were especially hilarious (too bad grunty's sisters made her stop in b-t) the game was just great
i could go on and on about the transformations, worlds, characters etc

the only thing that keeps it from legendary status is the story and the collect everything u see (too similar to mario i feel)

The collectathon is true but I thought 'I'm kidnapping your sister for her looks' is better than 'I'm kidnapping your girlfriend because I want to lure you into a trap'.

Tooie was great too although it didn't grab me as much as the first. The transformations were more interesting like the car/van and the way the duo could split up to learn even more new moves for themselves.

The ending wasn't as climatic either, the quiz was fun but it had already been done in BK. You'd think they'd use another idea.

true i stand corrected thats not a fare comparison on my part

b-t was disappointing to me because i was expecting an answer to the stop 'n' swoop ordeal that many fans were going thru

but it still was a good-great game late in n64 lifespan

What was the stop n swoop thing about? I've heard of it but never bothered looking further into it.

It was a gameplay element in B-K

Throughout the game u would find different coloured eggs in secret locations which were proudly displayed in the game status menu.

Unlike other items these items served no purpose whatsoever.

At the time of release rare said that items collected in b-k would be used in the sequel

many theories surfaced saying that u would have to go to this menu screen title stop 'n' swoop and pull ur carterage out- insert b-t and be able to unlock things (worlds etc)

this was the excepted theory until b-t came out

no stop 'n' swoop in the game

instead there were some eggs that could be found in dancing bk cartages (hmm) that had neglagable effects (multiplayer unlockables)

many were outraged that promises were not kept

my theory is that:
rare wanted to release this game for christmas and had no time to add such a feature. this is supported by one character/location in b-t: the drunken sailor in jolly rogers lagoon
remember him? he was the guy who gave u 3 coins for no purpose. surrounding him are pics of the locations of the eggs in b-k. this room has no point and makes me believe that rare simply got lazy or couldn't pull off the impracticality of such a connection.

that was long..........................

Re: Banjo-Kazooie appreciation thread

Oh yeah I remember those eggs, always wondered what they were for. Your theory makes sense to me seeing as some games have holiday deadlines that have to be met meaning some little things may be cut or left up in the air.

I don't like the idea of pulling out a cartridge in the middle of playing though, maybe they couldn't get that to work.

Re: Banjo-Kazooie appreciation thread

Banjo-Kazooie is one of the best 3D platform games of all time. Banjo-Tooie is even better, even in the nostalgia category. I practically go back to one of them every four months just to replay them. Games as good as this just aren't made these days anymore.

Re: Banjo-Kazooie appreciation thread

Banjo Kazooie is a true classic. The camera angles may have been a bit hazardous, and the controls may have been a bit murkey, but this game truly was on par with OoT in the nostalgia catergory, and in terms of gameplay, it was brilliant. Some times had me screaming at the controller, bit most of the time I was happy with that title. The only problem may have been when it got supremely hard in later levels. I also never liked the time limits, as I choke on time limits. However, even though the gameplay and nostalgia were flawless and fantastic, the thing that keeps me coming back is, oddly, the music.
Believe it or not, some of my favourite tunes of all time are concealed in this game. It's truly mind blowing, the quality of music in this game. My favourite part in this game was when you reached the top of the cliff in Treasure Trove Cove, and there's no music, just the sea air whistling around you. I absolutely love that part, and always visit there when playing the game. Luckily for me, I just bought an N64, so I can actually play that game all I want without having to borrow my brother's N64. This game isn't Rare's only blockbuster
On the N64, Rare was in a golden age. There were absolutely loads of classics on that console from Rare, and Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, and Perfect Dark are the supreme classics from Rare. So, I agree that Banjo Kazooie is a great game. One of my favourites of all time. It's such a shame Rare left Nintendo, but even if they did come back to Nintendo, a lot of the designers from their golden days would most likely have left. We won't see classics like this again I don't think.

Re: Banjo-Kazooie appreciation thread

You have no idea how much I'd like to see a banjo and kazooie game for the next gen... I loved Banjo and Kazooi and got it together with Zelda and my 64. I was amazed by the world, the characters and the music. Like Hero of the Winds said above me, the music was amazingly well done. I still love how the music changed to fit with the level as you moved closer to a certain painting, it all worked so well. Sadly I never got Banjo Tooie, I did play the game till Joly Rogers Lagoon but then it started to freeze >.<

It's sad actually, they rarely make great games like this one anymore.

Either way, if we'll be able to download Banjo and Kazooie on the Revolution, then you can be sure that I'll download it .

Your not the only one. Two weeks ago, I was bored and sick of waiting for TP so I played all of the way through Banjo Kazooie and got 100%. I wasn't very hard, but it still was a lot of fun. I then started to play Banjo-Tooie and decided to stop and replay Majora's Mask.
P.S. Go to IGN.com and search Banjo Kazooie. There is one being made for the X-Box 360. Why'd Nintendo sell Rareware, one of the best game developing companies ever??

Isn't the Sailor in the inn? I remember someone being in the furthest room if you keep going right after you enter. Or did he go somewhere else after you see him in there?

Re: Banjo-Kazooie appreciation thread

I love the Banjo-Kazooie games for N64, and it's a real let-down that they supposedly signed with Microsoft for games on the Xbox. Kazooie and Tooie were awesome games that I really enjoyed playing. In fact, maybe I'll play through them again soon. I remember Grunty being fairly hard to beat though, which was the only part that bugged me.

Also, on Tooie at the last level called.. I can't remember but it has the beehive at the top, a rainbow bridge, etc. and you have to race that canary girl on that wind-up mouse. That is bloody hard! I've never been able to beat her before.

I went to IGN.com and there was indeed an section for Banjo-Kazooie 3, but It contained no information on it at all.

I love the BK series, I got BK with my n64. It was so fun because I really like games with wide open worlds where you can go anywhere and not be restricted my invisible boundaries. I really enjoyed this game and Banjo Tooie, them along with super mario 64 and oot/mm are my faorite games mabey of all time. I could get into the minor details of why I liked these games, but if you have played them then you know how I feel about these games.
