Hookers Blaming Video Games For Violence

http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=11864

Retarded scoccer mothers, biased closed-minded anti-gamers, and now hookers are getting angry at gamers. This is too damn funny. Hookers has been mistreated, beaten, harassed, murder, and raped for thousands of years before we even had video games. Why hookers blaming video games because they are mistreated? Women who lead themselves to becoming hookers ARE LETTING THEMSELVES BE MISTREATED!!! If these hookers had common sense, they would get out of that lifestyle and stop blamming video games for violence towards them. Hookers allowed themselves to put in violence and rape. I hope Jack Thompson don't support this topic, but seeing how biased and ingorant he is, no doubt in my mind he will.

It's their own fault, really. This happened way before there were games, starting from New France. Why take it on video games when this happened when it still didn't exist? This is just pointless!

Re: Hookers Blaming Video Games For Violence

The whole anti-video game movement just get's more and more ridicoulus by the minute; these are just a bunch of retards trying to find an easy way out so they blame a form of ENTERTAINMENT for something REAL LIFE PEOPLE do.

Reality check: You're kids imitate things in video games because they're stupid. Teach them better, and whoop thier asses if they don't comply. IT'S YOUR FAULT.

Allowing someone to smack you around is nobody's fault but your own; choose a better lifestyle you retards.

Another reality check: Just wait. Jack is going to say something. He's so desperate to make his opinion that of the majority he'll do anything it seems.

Yet another reality check: JACK THOMPSON IS NOT A THREAT. IF PEOPLE WOULD JUST LEARN TO IGNORE HIM, HE'LL GO AWAY.

Re: Hookers Blaming Video Games For Violence

I find it ironic when prostitutes ( I call 'em "professional whores") get all indignant about getting raped. They brought it upon themselves. "Live by the sword, die by the sword". I mean, if you are a soldier in war and are killed, how can you blame the enemy? It's war. I'm just saying, when you play with fire you just may get burned and you just have to deal with it. It isn't anyone else's problem but your own.

Re: Hookers Blaming Video Games For Violence

How can you blame the mistreating of prostitutes on gaming, when the mistreating of prostitues was around long before gaming ever was?

I don't understand how an illegal profession (if you can even call it a profession) can put up an argument for something like that.

I agree with Snow_Storm. Hookers are only hurting themselves by choosing the lifestyle that puts their life in danger and their self-respect.

Re: Hookers Blaming Video Games For Violence

Did here anyone actually read the article?

1. They don't place any blame on games.
2. They don't place any blame on gamers.
3. They don't claim that violent games lead to violence.
4. They don't claim that prostitutes are necessarily being treated any worse as a result.
5. They aren't even doing anything more than encouraging parents to become more educated about video game violence.

They're complaining because the GTA games portray prostitution negatively. Kinda like what everyone in this thread is doing by completely misinterpreting the article into an attack against gamers, then flaming back over it. The closest they come to correlating violence to violent games is referencing a study by David Walsh on their website from 2001. Now, if you want to target that, here ya go.

I thought that prostitution was illegal and considered to be incredibly taboo behaviour in our society.

Oh, wait. It is.

As far as I know there're legal forms of prostitution in every first-world nation, and the complaining organization, SWOP, aims to represent more than just prostitutes. The fact that other forms of prostitution are still illegal factors into the concern over GTA's portrayal: In pushing to have it legalized, anything that re-enforces the negative stereotypes is counter to their cause.

Re: Hookers Blaming Video Games For Violence

Something gotta take the blame for everyone's misfortune. Unfortunately, video games will probably come as the best target to make excuses on. After all, it's a form of entertainment. People who cannot share the fun of that entertainment will be envious to an extent. This is ridiculous but it's inevitable.

A life in prostitution is not something you choose because you want to. Does anyone here actually think they enjoy their lifestyle?
I can understand them better than people who get all hoopla over small things like religious references and such.

I'm pretty sure that all forms of prostitution are illegal, if you define prostitution as having sex for money. If you want to stretch, you could argue that someone who impregnates a surrogate mother through natural means (a real rarity) is prostitution if it's done in exchange for money, but then, it's also illegal now in Canada to accept money for that kind of thing outside of reimbursing any travel expenses and lost work.

And this is kind of off topic.

A lot of my neighbors at my old house were prostitutes, and they were actually pretty passionate about it. During one of our federal elections I ended up beside one in line at the local voting station, and we got into a pretty interesting discussion about the historic scapegoating of prostitution as a political tool and how she enjoyed her job. Her biggest complaint - since she was in her 60s - was how the lack of recognition as a profession had cut into her retirement coverage. She didn't regret being a prostitute, she re
