Next Gen-Taking a step back?
I've come to release that popular franchises that recently went to hell with either a bunch of mediocre spin offs (Mario) or just plain bad new game releases (Sonic) are trying to take a shot at something new this generation. Taking a step back a generation. It seems that some franchises are trying to bring back old school elements into the newer games, to basicly reborn the series. For the Revolution, it's been rumored that there will be a new Ice Climbers and Kid Icarus game. Also, lets not forget Sonic Rush brings back classic Sonic gameplay, as well as this new Sonic game for the PS3 and 360. ALSO, there will be the upcoming release of New Super Mario Brothers for the DS, which looks almost identicle in gameplay to the older games. There was also the release of a game called Geometry Wars 2 a while ago, this is defenatly an old school type game. I personally think this whole old school buzz is a great idea and will bring back classic or older fans of the series back to playing them.
![]() ![]() ![]() Is the future of games the past? I sure as hell hope so.

Re: Next Gen-Taking a step back?
Very true. Old school made new is going to be all the rage pretty soon, but hey, why change perfection? The reason I love golden sun is because of it's old school RPG elements, with the top down view and the turn based fighting. So, why not do it with other games?
I like some of the newer type of games, but having old school style games would make more money. At least, I think so.
