Can my computer handle...

Hey, there. I'm thinking of buying that World of Warcraft game, it looks pretty solid. Thing is, I don't know how it'll run on my computer. I don't really play PC games much, The Sims 2 seems to run pretty well, a little jerky at times, perhaps.

So, anyway, I'll post the WoW minimum requirements along with my PC specs, and maybe someone'll tell me how the game will run, if it runs at all? (By the way, for all you WoW players out there, my character will be a female Tauren druid.)

WoW minimum requirements:
Intel Pentium® III 800 MHz or AMD Athlon 800 MHz
512 MB or more of RAM
32 MB 3D graphics card with Hardware Transform and Lighting, such as NVIDIA® GeForce™ 2 class card or above
DirectX® 9.0c (included) and latest video drivers
6.0 GB available HD space
4x CD-ROM drive
A 56k or better Internet connection

My computer specs:
Windows XP home edition (2002 build)
Intel Celeron 2.00Ghz
608MB RAM
Intergrated video card (unkown)
24.5 GB free HD space
Zoom ADSL broadband modem

Re: Can my computer handle...

Hmmm... You look good, except for the video card. Those integrated cards are cheap but suck bad. I have a 64 MB GC, and I'm not sure if your intergated could handle it.

Re: Can my computer handle...

I would advise against running any games on an integrated graphics set. I used to play Jedi Outcast on my old Dell, and it could barely cope.

The Celeron processor wouldn't handle the game too brilliantly either.

Re: Can my computer handle...

My Mum isn't prepared to fork out any more on this computer. No upgrades, no new video cards, nothing, so I'm stuck with what I have.

This computer seems to run the Sims 2 alright, the textures suck hard but I'm not too bothered.

Look, just tell me straight, is it worth buying the game? Will it be playable with my specs?

Re: Can my computer handle...

Well, a friend of mine was able to run a copy of Call of Duty game on an Intel Integrated Extreme Graphics (Pfft, Extreme? Please...), so maybe if you got the game and turned all the Graphics to low quality it might work? I dunno, I'd love to tell you straight, but I cannot. Sorry

Re: Can my computer handle...

I'm curious about the same thing, I'm also looking into buying the game. I just don't know where to find that information, like my computer's ram, etc. =\ Any help?

Kat, sure. Are you running windows? If so, right-click my computer and go to properties. You should find all of your info there. If your on a Mac, sorry, dunno.

If you do get WoW let me know and we'll kick some arse, kay'?

Re: Can my computer handle...

Go to your "My Computer" icon (lets assume you have windows) and right click it. Left click "Properties" and it shoud show your memory and processer speed and model at the lower part of the property screen. Then right click your Desktop, left click on "Properties", go to the "Settings" tab. Click on "Advanced..." and there should be a tab on the top showing the name of your Graphics card (The one for this computer is "Intel Extreme Graphics"). Click it. Now double click on My Computer, right click on the icon of your hard drive (you may have more than one) and select "Properties." It will show you how much free space you have left.

Those four computer diagnostics are usually the important ones when it comes to games. Other diagnostics are usually covered except on old computers.

Yeah I'm on a Windows XP. I don't really know what all this stuff means, so I'll just post it all...

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
HP Pavilion
AMD Anthlon(tm) XP 3200+
2.19 GHz
448 MB of RAM
ADSL Ethernet Broadband... (not sure if that's right >.>)

As for my video card, I really have no idea...

And I think that's a good plan. I'll be sure to let you know.

EDIT: I don't think that's how much RAM I have... I mean my 98 had 512 and I know this one has more then that...

Re: Can my computer handle...

512 is basically the standard these days, but WoW runs much nicer on a gig.

Re: Can my computer handle...

You have to be kidding. Saria.exe, your computer will work just fine with World of Warcraft. I have a much worse computer, and I still run what could be classified as "ok".

The same goes for you Kat, you'll run WoW just fine. No need to upgrade or anything, both of you.

Re: Can my computer handle...

Yep, but if it's atleast as good as mine, Saria.exe will have no problem playing WoW. My video card is 64 MB and integrated, and modern games such as Call of Duty 2 still work fine in action. It's amazing what my 4-year old PC can do.

Trust me, if your video card is like mine or better, you'll be fine.

Is there a way to figure out what kind of video card you have?

I do think though that I'd be okay if I can't figure it out. My comp ran Priston Tale pretty smoothly, and the graphics are probably I'd think only slightly lesser compared to WoW. I'm still curious, though.

Here's a screenshot from PT because most people haven't heard of it.

Re: Can my computer handle...

This will help us out considerably, on start, click run and type in "dxdiag". If something comes up click yes. A screen will come up telling all of your computer's specs, click the save all information button, and coipy paste it to here. THis will tell us your ram, processor, gfx card, sound card, etc.

WoWII is an increadibly hefty game. The minimum requirments are a vast understatement of what you need. my friend with a pentium 4 @2.8ghz, and a geforce 5500 gets tons of lag. I'm pretty good, geforce 6800 with a 3.0ghz pentium 4. I doubt it will run on an intergrated card, just keep your recipt.

Display Devices
---------------
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce4 MX Integrated GPU
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce4 MX Integrated GPU
DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC
Display Memory: 64.0 MB

I'm guessing that would be the video card?
