New Mario DS Images

There seems to be a wealth of Mario DS information floating around now. Gamespot has some good articles here along with a lot of nice screens for peoples salivation.

I'll tell you why. It's Mario again! Finally, after all this time....brings a tear to my eye. However they still need to turn down the spin-off's just a couple of knotches, and stick with this.

Man it'll feel so good to play a new Mario sidescrolling platformer again.

When I looked at those screens (and read all the articles about it elsewhere) this huge wave of nostalgia came over me, and I felt the Mario feeling again. For the first time in a loooong time. Yippee....and such.

Oh yeah, I've seen this before, it looks pretty solid. Basically its just a remake of the NES "Mario Bros." Dunno if i'll buy it, but we'll see.

Err? That's not a remake.
It's what some would call the true sequel to Super Mario World.

I think the co-op will be awesome, NES Super Mario games had co-op but it wasn't quite the same as this, this could be better. Though I think they just should've used sprites, they've been doing 3D on everything.

Not to be a downer again, but I just think this game looks horrible. The 3D character models just do not work well in a sidescroller esspessially when the backgrounds are 2D. Goemon's Great Adventure was a wonderful 3D sidescroller, but it had a 3D background as well. The backgrounds in New Super Mario Bros. look dull, boring, and just plain out bad. This title just doesn't look interesting at all, and it will never live up to other Mario sidescrollers.

You seem to be the downer quite often, or is it just me? >.> Everyone seems to take these games so seriously, to an unecessary level. I for one look forward to this game. 2D or 3D.

You just have low standards for Mario games, but I guess that's what happens when we get a Mario Party game out every month.

There's an old that I find quite fitting in situations like these: "Don't judge the book by it's cover."

I agree that the game looks ugly as hell with those lifeless 3D models, but graphics are not everything after all.
Nintendo said that they're aiming at making the best Mario-game to date. This won't be just any game.

When a game looks this bad, it distracks me when I play the game. Gameplay is important, but so are graphics. I am suprised Nintendo said that this will be the best Mario game to date. Are you sure they said that because I never heard that. If that were true, the game wouldn't look like crap and they would hype it up. I mean... the environments have no detail!

I think you're exagerating a whole lot. The graphic's aren't THAT bad. It's also obvious that they're trying to give the enviroments a retro look, though mixing in 3D models kinda ruins them.
I read the "best" thing at www.gamefront.de a while ago. My german isn't the best, so finding that particular newspost isn't the easiest.
I didn't see them hyping up Mario Kart DS at all untill right before the release, yet it's more or less generaly accepted as being the best Mario Kart game to date (which nintendo had already hinted at.)

Well, I'm not. These graphics look so bad. It is to the point where I will not play the game unless they improve them. Sorry, I refuse to play games that are hard to look at and this game is really nasty.

the reason we get a new mario party game every month is because it sells good, which means mario is loved.This game will be great.Have you seen castlevania on DS???now that is a dissapointment,this will have co-op and new features why would it be so bad?It will also include sounds from luigi and mario instead of just the bing and ting noise from jumping and getting coins.

Don't be a graphic whore, if you've seen the videos for the game it looks fun as hell. The graphics are easily missed when seeing it in motion.

Bah, this is gonna be a blast. It'll be just like the SSBM Mushroom Kingdom level all over again, only all Mario. I really like the idea of this, and I don't mind the 3D stuff either. It'll probably be a nice touch for the game.

This looks fun as hell, 'sides the graphics this looks awesome! A combination of SMB 1, 3, SMW and a bit of SM64! This might be one of the best Mario's yet. Well, maybe not but possibly! This looks really fun, I wanna try co-op. At first people thought Sonic Rush would suck because the graphics were ass, but it turned out great.

A lot of recent Mario games have been better than what Mario had previously been (at least from my point). It's as if Nintendo has finally gone back to classic Mario roots, and is finally trying to re-invigorate itself. It's not just just Mario they're reviving, they're doing it with all kinds of other classic game series'. At least this is what I'm seeing.

Anyway, that Mario game looks freakin' sweet! My DS library is starting to grow quite large now, after a period of drought, and I think finally the DS has got knee deep into the competition. The game itself looks beautiful, and the graphics actually work really well. It looks fun, and I look forward to owning it. When's it scheduled for release? 2007? Autumn this year?

The only thing that has me waryr for this game is how it includes all the Mario 64 moves included into a 2D game. It reminds me WAY to much of the crap that we call Mario Vs. Donkey Kong. Other than that, it looks good though. The fact that a 2D game has been in development for over two years now means that they have to be doing SOMETHING amazing to it. Whether it's the fact that they couldn't find and recreate the classic Mario side scroller formula that made the original games so great, or that they are possibly taking all thsi time working out all the little kinks in it. Honestly, I think the first of the two is the most likely.

Either way, the game should be released this year. If it isn't I would be pretty worried of this game going Mario 128 on us.
