Nintendo suffers a net loss for the first time since...
It's establishment. Which is, of course, awful news... Sure, it's very little compared to it's huge warchest of saved up, but when a company as conservative as Nintendo posts losses like this, it can only be a horrible thing.

Re: Nintendo suffers a net loss for the first time since...
Short term outlook, for a company with money like Nintendo isnt quite as important as the long term. This loss possibly sets up greater profits in the future (More console sales, and improved image....)

Re: Nintendo suffers a net loss for the first time since...
I can see the point that it isn't good that after such a long time Nintendo suffered a loss. But at the same time how would tey ever have guessed that the Dollar would continue tanking and that would make their losses what they are, who's to say that without that factor the loss would or would not have happened, unless you feel liek extra math, but you really can't blame the company or thier produccts directly. hopefully holiday sales pick nintendo back up into the green.

Re: Nintendo suffers a net loss for the first time since...
It's not like they're going to go out of business. A loss of a meager 3 billion yen may sound considerable, but for a company that makes more than 30 billion yen every year, it's relatively excusable. The main thing Nintendo should be concerned about right now are selling their products over here in North America, Europe, and Australia, rather than the japanese economy.

Re: Nintendo suffers a net loss for the first time since...
Yes, I know that it's a loss, but I highly doubt that it will hurt Nintendo all that much. I mean, they are a big company, and with Gamecubes and GBA's now selling faster than in recent memory over in North America, I think that the loss will be lightened somewhat. I doubt that the recent figures were taken into account.

Re: Nintendo suffers a net loss for the first time since...
... wow. poor nintendo, definately should have done the price cut earlier...
... the problem is, that when a company posts their first net loss, it usually takes far more to recover from it than it would to merely gain back that money if they were still rising... their profits have been slowing down for a while now, and it's gonna take something big to recover right now.... meep. call me pessimistic, but stuff like this is NEVER good...

Re: Nintendo suffers a net loss for the first time since...
Well I'm definatley doing my part for Nintendo. Over $400 dollars was spent towards Nintendo this year for me...
You gotta relize that not many big games were released during last the 6 months. For GCN there was SonicAdventureDX, Soul Calibur 2, and F-Zero. Thats really all they had that was a major production over the last six months. For the GBA there wasn't any for me atleast, besides FFTA. Nintendo still can catch up to the other systems this winter. People looking for a shooter my get a GC for MetalGS:TTS. Also Nintendo's getting a Final Fantasy and A Harvest Moon which may attract even more people. with all of Gamecubes other great games (not many but the few like Metroid prime) it is starting to have a impressive collection of games.
