Baten Kaitos 2 US Bound
Rumor: RPG sequel set to hit US shores later this year courtesy of Nintendo.

January 13, 2006 - Namco's GameCube-exclusive RPG series, Baten Kaitos, has amassed a dedicated group of fans since the first game released in Japan some three years ago. Development studio Monolith Software has for more than a year been underway with an official sequel to the title, called simply Baten Kaitos 2. In something of a surprise twist, Nintendo of Japan last winter revealed that it - and not Namco - would be publishing the effort in the Land of the Rising Sun. A ship date is set in the coming months.
All of this news is fine and dandy for GameCube owners in Japan, but what about fans in America? IGN has good news to report. According to sources close to Namco, Baten Kaitos 2 is set to hit the US later this year. We unfortunately don't have an exact ship date. However, insiders allege that, like its Japanese parent, Nintendo of America will publish the RPG in the States.
We contacted Namco for an official confirmation, but a spokesperson for the company said that it was unaware of any plan to bring Baten Kaitos 2 over. This would seem to make sense given that Namco is no longer handling the title, if sources are correct.
Nintendo of America could not be reached in time for comment.
Baten Kaitos 2 is a card-based RPG that takes place 20 years prior to the start of the original. You play as Sagi, a member of the empire's "elite" force of fighters. Sagi heads off on a quest to determine the nature of a mysterious change that's appearing in the world. The title features old and new characters and locations, and the same style of gorgeous artwork that has drawn fans to the series.
meh, I geuss it's better than nothing. I hope I can get this one, there was too much going on when the first Baiten Kaitos came out and I completly missed that one. Hopefully, they'll get better voice acting for this one and maybe even throw in some CG scenes besides the intro.
