I know it's been a while since it came out but who here has played Half Life 2?

Re: Half Life 2

I have played the HL2 demo, but I am waiting for the Platinum collection to come out before buying it.

I have HL2, and it is an AWESOME single-player experience...too bad I never got the chance to play HL1 ...

Re: Half Life 2

Half-Life 2 is the best first-person shooter to have come out for the PC in the last several years, if not since the original Half-Life. Very few have managed to keep me occupied for so long a time; I keep coming back to the game every couple of months simply because it's a game that's actually fun to play as a game, rather than just marvel at like the hundreds of other clones polluting the collective hard drive.

I really don't want to go on and write a review on it, but I could explain everything I love about it in great detail. It will suffice, however, to simply say that upon playing (and completing) it, anyone with a shred of appreciation for software will learn the same reasons that I have for loving the game.

Re: Half Life 2

I haven't played HL2 but I have played HL1 and all the other versions. And I have to say, they are really good FPS games. But F.E.A.R. seems like it's a very good contender.

Half-Life 2 >>>>>>>>> F.E.A.R.

Some A.I. issues notwithstanding, HL2 stands head and shoulders above F.E.A.R. both in craftsmanship and as an experience.

Very true, FEAR was also a very nice game.
I've had Half Life 2 for well over a year now. I think I had already finished it this time last year.

Its a easy game you can play again and again.
Im looking forward to Half Life 2: Aftermath coming out in April.

Good stuff.

Re: Half Life 2

I have and I love the game. I think it's just an amazing single player game. Even mutiplayer is decent. Playing with Hammer is also fun! I haven't played all the way through though, only bits and peices, but what I have played I love.

Re: Half Life 2

F.E.A.R. is a great game. Scary as hell, and an awesome experience. The last 3 intervals are the best...they are so...intense...that your adrenaline is pumping like CRAZY from all the action, excitement, and fear.

The only real problem with it is that it's WAAAAY too short...only took me 12 hours .

Re: Half Life 2

I've played some of F.E.A.R., and it was a total bore. Great AI, but everything else about the game reeks of blandness. Even the scary segments aren't that great, because it's anything you could get out of an average B horror film anyway. It's true that Half-Life 2's combat does pale in comparison to F.E.A.R.'s tactical dynamic firefights, but everything else about the game trumps F.E.A.R. and actually makes it look like something to avoid. I can guess the only reason the game got good reviews was because the competition last year for shooters on the PC was very weak.

Re: Half Life 2

Uh...this is Half Life 2, Half Life: CS is different.

Meh...Sear, I still think F.E.A.R. is better than you give credit for.
